The SCADA Specialist/Sr. SCADA Specialist/Lead SCADA Specialist responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide primary application & user support for the following: Cygnet, AutoSol and PI Historian. May also support other applications such as Synergi SPS, Airlink Manager, MOVEit, and others.
  • Develop displays for new facilities. This includes all polling configurations, point mapping (links, data files, navigation, communication), display creation, and data validation. These tasks require a significant level of data analysis, coordination, and communication between numerous groups.
  • Update and maintain applications to reflect on-going operational changes. This includes display and configuration changes resulting from equipment changeouts, control logic modifications, and general operational changes.  Responsible for managing all tickets associated with such changes.
  • Provide customer support to all application users. This includes problem solving support for field operations as well as 24/7 support for the gas control department.

 

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, telecommunications, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of applicable work experience is required for the SCADA Specialist position which must include Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA systems: preferably Cygnet, AutoSol, and PI). An equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered.
  • Proficiency in Object Oriented programming (VB.net, C#, C++, VBS, etc.).
  • Familiarity with all types of electronic communication mediums: radio, cellular, circuits and satellites.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent Organizational/Time Management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Demonstrated understanding of SCADA systems, communication methods, and interaction with field equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data acquisition process from RTUs and PLCs, and familiarity with application-level protocols.
  • Knowledge of relational database management systems (Access, SQL server, Oracle, etc.) and object-oriented programming. Ability to create custom queries and access data from varied systems.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret P&ID drawings.

 

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge of AWS/Azure Cloud architecture.
  • Understanding of the TCP/IP suite and OSI model. Ability to diagnose problems at the various levels of the OSI model to determine point of failure.
  • Background in natural gas applications such as gas measurement, instrumentation, automation, compression and control sites.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data acquisition process from RTUs and PLCs, familiarity with application-level protocols, and the ability to perform advanced troubleshooting of related problems.
  • Proficiency with the following equipment: (RTUs) Thermo, Eagle, ABB, Fisher; (PLCs) Schneider, Allen Bradley; (communicating over) spread-spectrum radio, cellular, circuits, and satellite.
  • Network skills including basic router and switch configuration and diagnostics, understanding firewalls, port filtering and IP tables, ACLs, proxy configurations, cabling, and Wi-Fi configurations.
  • Evaluating, developing, and implementing modifications to and/or development of new programs/functionality to enhance or solve complex business challenges.
  • Developing and maintaining system documentation including process maps, data flows, infrastructure diagrams, as well as installation and configuration procedures.
  • Experience in the natural gas or energy business is preferred with a general understanding of operations. Relevant experience in other industries is also welcome.

 

Remote work is being considered for this role excluding the following states:  California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Tennessee.
