Here is how the Facilities Construction Manager role will impact our business:
The Facilities Construction Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and safe execution of midstream natural gas infrastructure projects. This position is responsible for managing field-level construction activities from pre-construction through commissioning, with a focus on compressor stations, dehydration units, metering stations, and related facilities. The Construction Manager will work closely with engineering, operations, EHS, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery that meets technical, regulatory, and quality standards. This role provides a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the growth and reliability of our midstream operations.
The Facilities Construction Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead and oversee all phases of field construction for midstream facilities including site preparation, equipment installation, and system commissioning.
- Coordinate with project engineers, operations, procurement, and third-party contractors to align scope, schedule, and resources.
- Ensure all construction activities adhere to company safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality expectations.
- Review and validate construction drawings, specifications, and work packages; provide feedback and adjustments as needed.
- Monitor daily field progress, perform site inspections, and resolve field-level issues in real-time to avoid schedule impacts.
- Track construction costs and manage contractor performance against budget and deliverables.
- Manage construction timelines to ensure critical path milestones are met and project execution stays on schedule.
- Participate in contractor selection and bid evaluation processes.
- Lead or support facility start-up and turnover to operations including punch-list resolution and final walkdowns.
- Maintain accurate documentation of construction activities, field changes, and as-built drawings.
- Champion a culture of safety and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and internal EHS policies.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field — OR equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant construction management experience, preferably in natural gas or midstream facilities.
- Proven track record in leading field construction for gas gathering, compression, dehydration, or related projects.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, civil, and electrical systems relevant to midstream operations.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to field locations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in dynamic environments and deliver results under tight timelines.
- Knowledge of applicable industry standards and regulations (OSHA, DOT, ASME, API, PHMSA).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as project needs dictate.
- 9/80 work schedule.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Experience managing third-party contractors and construction crews.
- Background in natural gas facility construction including compressors, dehydration units, and meter stations.
- Familiarity with project management tools and systems such as:
- Smartsheet, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project.
- Strong knowledge of construction permitting and inspection processes.
- Budget management and cost tracking experience.
- Familiarity with SCADA, electrical and control system installations.
Preferred Location:
This is a hybrid role, combining field work, remote work, and in-office presence based in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
Selected incumbent will be placed into the position that best suits their abilities and experience level.
