Here is how the Measurement and Instrumentation Engineer role will impact our business:
The Measurement and Instrumentation (M&I) Engineer I/II/III/IV is responsible for providing technical guidance and focus surrounding our instrumentation controls and devices while working hand in hand with EQT Team Members and External Business Partners. This position will work closely with our water infrastructure department to drive operational success through technical excellence in engineering designs, processes, and procedures of our measurement and instrumentation devices across the footprint. This position will provide the opportunity of growth and development through mentorship provided by the experience of a diverse engineering department. The M&I Engineer will be responsible for connecting our networks and evolving how we leverage instrumentation and automation to driver operational success.
The Measurement and Instrumentation Engineer I/II/III/IV responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing technical expertise in all phases of measurement and instrumentation design.
- “Owner” of the Automation / Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) engineering design / planning / execution / cost management / project closeout for all facilities / booster pump stations & pipeline projects (new installations and planned / unplanned repair and upgrade projects) across the EQT water networks.
- Development & evolution of all standards / specifications / guiding documentation leveraged by the water infrastructure team surrounding automation and I&E.
- Manage all projects / jobs associated with M&I & I&E work associated with water infrastructure projects.
- Responsible and consulted for developing a yearly budget for M&I & I&E projects year over year.
- Develop and manage key performance indicators and metrics yearly that align with executive targets and goals.
- Responsible for I&E & Electrical equipment identification / accountability for all long lead items associated with new design / installations and repair / upgrade projects.
- Working with drafting / 3rd party engineering firm on cause and effects (C&E) / bill of material (BOM) development / Controller Programing / control panel drawings (as needed) / JB drawings (as needed) / Instrument cable schedules / Interconnect drawings / Heat Trace panel drawings/design/isos / grounding / Electrical power drawings.
- Responsible for reviewing and approving the instrument index that will be used for newly designed facilities / booster stations and repair / upgrade work.
- Lead internal and external meetings to review designs and models for all M&I / Electrical related projects associated with water infrastructure.
- Align standards / operations with Facility M&I & Electrical Engineering staff.
- Responsible for optimizing all on-location controls/automation working alongside the water automation team.
- Owner of network architecture drawings for all new water facilities and booster station installations.
- Develop and maintain control applications to ensure they are optimized for useability and meet control requirements.
- Maintain application revision control and documentation of revision history for water facilities and booster stations.
- Responsible for the standard base HMI and site controller configurations for all water infrastructure projects.
Required Experience and Skills:
- 2+ years of experience in engineering with a focus on automations and controls.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Petroleum / Chemical / Electrical).
- Valid driver's license required.
- General understanding of Process Flow & Equipment Used For Separation of Fluids On Common Oil and Gas Production Wells.
- Understanding of ASME, ANSI, API, ISA, IEEE, IEC 61131, NEC Specs and Standards.
- Communication and Presentation Skills.
- Extreme Ownership Mentality.
- Able to take complex workflows/ideas and communicate them concisely to achieve results.
- Self-starter and team player.
- Able to work independently as needed.
- Ability to travel 15-20% of the time.
- Ability to work flexible work hours inclusive of weekends and holidays as needed.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in the oil and gas industry w/ familiarization of water operations.
- Equipment design/manufacturing or oil field facility construction.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite experience to Include Vizio.
- Familiarity with PLC programming.
- Familiarization with:
- Allen Bradley PLCs / HMIs
- Emerson Control Devices (Remote Operations Controllers (ROC) / FB3000s)
- Transmitters and Flowmeters (Rosemount specifically)
- Water pump automation / control loops (would be preferred)
- Aspen

Work Location:
- The job is hybrid, meaning it combines field work, remote work, and office work in the Pittsburgh, PA, area.
Selected incumbent will be placed into the position that best suits their abilities and experience level.
