The Construction Manager II/Sr/Lead plays a key role in executing Midstream Pipeline Projects for EQT’s core gathering business. This position involves leading and supporting all construction activity to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and budget performance. This role offers the opportunity to grow within a dynamic team through mentorship and hands-on experience with midstream operations.
The Construction Manager II/Sr/Lead responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Construction Execution & Oversight
- Oversee daily field construction operations, including contractor performance, material management, QA/QC, and adherence to project specifications. Ensure all work meets EQT standards for safety, quality, environmental compliance, and schedule integrity.
Field Leadership & Coordination
- Serve as the key interface between project management, engineering, land, environmental, and operations teams. Lead and coordinate field crews, inspectors, and third-party contractors to ensure alignment on priorities, milestones, and execution plans.
Safety & Environmental Stewardship
- Champion a strong safety culture on-site. Enforce all EH&S requirements, conduct regular safety meetings, and ensure immediate response to incidents or near-misses. Maintain environmental compliance throughout construction, restoration, and post-construction monitoring.
Schedule & Budget Accountability
- Monitor and report on daily progress, productivity, and cost performance. Provide accurate forecasts and proactively identify risks or deviations from plan. Work closely with the Project Manager to implement recovery strategies when necessary.
Quality Assurance & Technical Compliance
- Verify installation methods, materials, and testing meet engineering design and regulatory standards. Support pre-commissioning and as-built documentation to ensure seamless transition to operations.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and deliver detailed construction reports, progress updates, and risk assessments. Maintain accurate records for regulatory and project closeout documentation.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in pipeline construction, natural gas transmission and gathering systems preferred.
- Degree in Construction Management/similar field or equivalent directly applicable work experience considered.
- Comprehensive understanding of pipeline construction techniques/processes and industry standards.
- Working knowledge of key industry codes and standards, including ASME, ANSI, API, PHMSA, NACE, and DOT regulations.
- Exceptional communication, coordination, and organizational abilities, with a proven track record of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic field environment.
- Proactive, results-oriented approach with demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Valid driver’s license, and ability to travel to sites on a weekly basis.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Familiarity with Appalachian basin operations.
- Experience working with third-party inspection firms and environmental service providers.
- Knowledge of GIS tools and inspection management platforms.
