Position Summary:
The Remote EEG Physician is a board certified or board eligible child neurologist with specialized expertise in electroencephalography (EEG) who provides remote interpretation of EEG studies for inpatient and outpatient settings. The physician works collaboratively with onsite clinicians, EEG technologists, and care teams while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Remotely interpret and report:
Routine EEGs
Ambulatory EEGs
Continuous EEG (cEEG), including ICU studies (as applicable)
Identify and characterize seizures, epileptiform activity, encephalopathy patterns, and other abnormal findings
Provide timely preliminary and final EEG reports in accordance with clinical urgency and service level expectations
Communicate EEG findings clearly to referring physicians, neurologists, intensivists, and advanced practice providers
Participate in multidisciplinary care coordination as needed
Collaborate with EEG technologists to ensure study quality (Provide “wet reads”)
Ensure EEG interpretations comply with ACNS guidelines, organizational policies, and regulatory standards
Maintain accurate, timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) and EEG reporting systems
Participate in peer review, quality assurance, and performance improvement activities
Utilize secure remote access platforms for EEG review and reporting
Adhere to HIPAA and data security standards in all remote work activities
Troubleshoot basic technical issues related to remote EEG viewing systems, escalating as needed
Requirements:
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology (ABPN)
Board Certification in Epilepsy or Clinical Neurophysiology strongly preferred
Certificate in Child Neurology with the ability to read neonatal to adult EEG.
Active, unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state. Willingness and ability to obtain additional state licenses, with company support, is required. Multistate licensure (e.g., via IMLC) is a significant plus.
Eligibility for credentialing and privileging at client facilities
DEA registration (if applicable to organizational requirements)
Work Environment:
This is a 100% remote, telehealth position.
Must maintain a dedicated, private, and secure workspace with reliable high-speed internet to ensure HIPAA compliance and uninterrupted service.
Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced expertise in EEG interpretation across multiple study types
Strong diagnostic judgment with ability to work independently in a remote setting
Excellent written communication skills for concise, clinically actionable reports
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and patient safety
Comfort with telemedicine platforms and digital health technologies
Ability to manage workload efficiently while meeting turnaround time expectations
Proven ability to work effectively in a fully remote, asynchronous environment
Education:
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Completion of an ACGME accredited Neurology residency
Fellowship training in Clinical Neurophysiology and/or Epilepsy
