About this Job
Eridan is seeking a highly skilled Application Engineer to support our partners in the integration, productization, and deployment of end-to-end 5G solutions built around our innovative Radio Unit (RU). This position plays a critical role in enabling seamless integration with CU/DU platforms and successful deployment in both lab and field environments. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of 5G NR (SA/NSA), O-RAN/vRAN architectures, and 3GPP standards, along with strong technical hands-on experience in virtualized, containerized, and Linux-based environments.
As our Application Engineer, you will:
Partner Integration & Customer Support
- Support integration of Eridan’s RU with third-party CU/DU platforms and full 5G Core, ensuring interoperability, deployment readiness, and post-deployment support.
- Collaborate with partners and customers on end-to-end system validation, providing expertise and hands-on troubleshooting across RAN and Core interfaces
- Analyze 5G VoNR call flows and troubleshoot signaling/data issues using PCAPs and gNB/Core trace logs.
RAN Architecture & RF Performance
- Work with O-RAN/vRAN architectures, including functional splits (e.g., 7-2x), and components such as RU, DU, CU, CP, and UP.
- Optimize RF operations over eCPRI, including CSR parameter configuration, DU setup, and synchronization/timing mechanisms.
Protocol Stack & Networking
- Apply deep knowledge of the 3GPP 5G protocol stack (L1/L2/L3) for control and user plane functionality.
- Leverage a strong understanding of IP networking, including routing, switching, VLANs, interface configuration, and network debugging.
System Validation & Debugging
- Conduct system integration and validation of 5G RAN layers (RRC, SDAP, PDCP, RLC, MAC, PHY) per 3GPP specifications.
- Work in Linux-based CU/DU environments, managing services, logs, and network configurations using CLI tools (e.g., systemd, journalctl, tcpdump).
- Contribute to debug and feature development efforts using C, C++, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
Virtualization & Test Tools
- Operate in virtualized and containerized environments (e.g., VMware, KVM, Docker, Kubernetes), supporting orchestration and automation across telco cloud stacks.
- Utilize RF and network test tools/emulators such as Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, Anritsu, and Anite for validation and performance testing.
Qualities of a Successful Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in 5G NR system engineering, integration, or application engineering roles, preferably within O-RAN/vRAN ecosystems.
- Strong experience in end-to-end 5G integration, including 5G Core connectivity and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in Linux, IP networking, and system-level diagnostics in distributed telecom environments.
- Practical experience with virtualized and containerized architectures, and familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenStack).
- Strong development/debugging skills in C, C++, and scripting (Python).
- Hands-on experience using and configuring radio and network testing tools.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills; able to interface with cross-functional teams and partners.
Perks of working at Eridan
- Work on new technology that will make a significant impact on global infrastructure
- Ability to learn, develop, and advance within a flexible environment
- Collaborate with smart, passionate, and helpful co-workers
- Celebrate progress company-wide
