Senior Data Scientist, AI

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a highly experienced and influential Senior Data Scientist to be a key member of our newly established AI team. In this role, you’ll bring deep technical expertise and collaborate closely with our Principal Data Scientist, who will provide mentorship and guidance.

You’ll be part of a compact, dynamic, cross-functional team working alongside skilled colleagues from Product and Engineering, receiving direct mentorship from senior leadership. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of AI within our organisation and make a significant impact from day one.

This is a hybrid role and can be based from our office in Dublin or Madrid.

Responsibilities

• Problem Formulation & Strategy: Partner with peer across Product and the wider business to drive the process of translating complex and ambiguous business challenges into well-defined, data-driven strategies and AI use-cases, capable of delivering significant business value.
• Model & System Development: Own the end-to-end design, development, training and evaluation of Machine Learning models and LLM-enabled systems, to ensure long-term scalability and maintainability, while solving identified business needs.
• Model Performance & Excellence: Establish and champion MLOps best practices across the team. Define standards for model monitoring, evaluation, and CI/CD for ML & AI, ensuring our production systems are resilient, performant, and continuously improving.
• Influential Communication: Clearly articulate complex technical designs, experimental results, and strategic recommendations to a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leadership. Your communication will influence technical roadmaps and product strategy.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Act as a technical leader within the multi-disciplinary team. Mentor and guide other data scientists, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of technical excellence and collaborative learning.
• Drive Innovation: Go beyond staying current. Actively research, prototype, and champion the latest techniques, tools, and technologies in the AI/ML domain.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist with a proven track record of leading complex end-to-end AI / ML projects, where significant business value was realised.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Physics). A PhD qualification is a plus.
• Strong statistical knowledge, with an extensive understanding of the foundations of a broad range of Machine Learning algorithms / LLMs. Proficient in Python and the Python data science ecosystem with mastery of one or more ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
• Strong SQL skills, with an understanding of modern database systems.
• Proven experience designing and building production-grade ML and generative AI systems.
• Experienced in LLM orchestration tooling (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.) for complex agentic workflows, RAG, with LLM fine-tuning experience a plus.
• Hands-on cloud development experience on Azure (Fabric, AI Foundry) or GCP (Vertex AI). Proven experience designing and implementing MLOps pipelines.
• Experienced in using tools for containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and experiment tracking (MLflow, etc.).
• A natural leader and team player, you are adept at guiding technical discussions, aligning team members, and building consensus with stakeholders on the way forward.
• Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil highly technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for both technical and executive audiences.
