Electromechanical Engineer
ETCH is a startup commercializing a radically new and efficient decarbonization technology for the simultaneous greenhouse gas-free production of hydrogen and solid carbon from natural gas.
The Electromechanical Engineer position at ETCH, INC will operate and maintain systems and equipment and design hardware to be used in the ETCH Process™. Primary responsibilities are testing and monitoring of ETCH’s pilot reactor, designing performance and process improvements, and assistance in assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of the pilot reactor.
Other duties include:
- Providing process improvement feedback and diagnosis of process bottlenecks
- Design and implementation of hardware and test procedures to improve reactor performance and reliability
- Electrical design of outdoor rated power distribution and wiring harnesses that meet code.
- Establishing safe systems and procedures for individuals and groups working with potentially dangerous and combustible chemicals, particularly but not limited to natural gas, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, carbon powders and metal salts
- Evaluating processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
- Coordination with manufacturers and suppliers
- Flexible work schedule including the occasional third shift
Preferred qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience with Solidworks or similar CAD software
- Experience with tools, machinery, equipment construction, and/or chemical processing
- Experience with programmable logic controllers and data acquisition systems
An ability to work independently as well as in a team environment toward timely execution of goals is required.
