Position Summary:
The Senior Oracle DBA is accountable for all operational, developmental, and support aspects of Oracle database environments across the GPO. This position manages standalone and clustered Oracle databases, ensuring maximum availability, optimal performance, and adherence to security and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot daily Oracle database issues, including system setups, error diagnosis, and configuration.
- Provide comprehensive support and maintenance for Oracle databases as well as Maria DB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and related technologies.
- Lead efforts in responding to change requests, performing upgrades, applying patches, and resolving incidents.
- Assist users in database design, schema development, and implementation.
- Oversee backup, recovery, and disaster planning/testing for Oracle systems.
- Monitor database health, proactively identify risks, and implement mitigations.
- Collaborate with application teams for integration and optimization.
- Generate comprehensive weekly activity and incident reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience supporting Oracle database environments in complex enterprise settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in Oracle database administration, with additional experience in MariaDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Skilled in database patching, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and high-availability (HA) clustering.
- Strong knowledge of data security and regulatory compliance for Federal IT.
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills; effective working with distributed and on-site teams.
Location: Work may be performed remotely, with the option to work onsite at GPO’s Central Office in Washington, DC.
