PKI Architect / Identity Federation Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Location: Hybrid (Tentative). Work may be performed remotely, with potential onsite work in Washington, DC, pending final client confirmation.
Position Description:
The PKI Architect serves as the enterprise expert in architecting, integrating, and maintaining Public Key Infrastructure and supporting enterprise credentialing and identity federation (including SAML, OIDC, and cross-domain integration). This role is critical for enabling secure PIV onboarding, mainframe and legacy system enablement, and facilitating trusted access and federation both within DHS and with external partners.
Must-Have Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive experience with PKI design/administration, identity federation, and PIV enablement.
- Specialized knowledge of FICAM, FIPS 140-2, SAML, OIDC, and cross-application authentication methods.
- Hands-on experience enabling secure access for legacy/mainframe environments.
Value-Added Experience:
- PKI and federation delivery in DHS, IRS, or large civilian environments.
- Implementation of external federation and complex trust architectures.
- Experience supporting Zero Trust architectures and modernization efforts.
