Job Position: AI Integrator

Location: 439th CES/CER, 250 Patriot Avenue, Westover ARB, MA 01022 (Onsite)

Citizenship: US Citizen (MUST)

Security Clearance: Requires successful completion of NACI/SF85 (Public Trust) background investigation.

 

Position Overview:

The AI Integrator will provide direct support to the 439th Civil Engineer Squadron (CES) at Westover Air Reserve Base as a technical and subject matter expert responsible for end-to-end artificial intelligence integration and sustainment. This role will support the full life cycle of custom AI/ML solutions—contract analysis, energy management, and snowfall recovery systems—ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and secure performance within a rigorous Department of Defense (DoD) environment.

 

This position is instrumental to the successful operationalization of critical AI-driven platforms for military engineering, contributing directly to mission readiness and operational resilience at Westover ARB. Qualified individuals will have the opportunity to shape and optimize utility, contracting, and emergency response solutions at the enterprise level while working within a collaborative, cutting-edge environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • AI/ML Solutions Development: Design, develop, train, validate, and optimize machine learning and deep learning models for targeted engineering and logistics use cases. This includes historical contract analysis, energy consumption optimization, and predictive snowfall recovery planning.
  • System Deployment & Integration: Implement, integrate, and sustain AI-enabled digital platforms within secure, air-gapped, on-site environments. Coordinate with DoD IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure operational compliance with IL-4/IL-5 environments.
  • Technical Documentation: Author comprehensive system documentation, user manuals, training materials, and operational guidance for both technical and non-technical government personnel.
  • Personnel Training: Provide monthly training to Air Force staff on use and optimization of deployed AI solutions. Translate technical workflows and concepts into accessible, mission-relevant language for operator adoption.
  • Security and Confidentiality: Ensure strict adherence to DoD cybersecurity protocols, CUI/FCI protection requirements, and all applicable privacy and confidentiality policies.
  • System Sustainment: Continually monitor and maintain operational platforms, applying upgrades, software patches, model retraining, and bug fixes as necessary.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Support the completion of mandatory manpower/labor hour reporting and contribute to contract deliverables and performance reviews per Government timelines.
  • Collaboration and Incident Reporting: Serve as the focal point for all support, incident, and sustainment tickets; coordinate closely with the Resources Flight Chief and associated authorities for timely issue resolution.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ direct hands-on experience or commensurate education in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, or a related field within secure DoD or comparable environments.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Mastery of ML/DL frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Keras) and MLOps toolchains.
  • Advanced programming in Python; experience developing on Linux-based systems.
  • Proficiency in backend frameworks (e.g., Django), task queues (Celery), and databases (PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with cloud (AWS GovCloud, Azure IL5/6), containerized services (Kubernetes, Docker), modern API standards (REST, GraphQL, MQTT).
  • Strong data engineering capability, including ETL pipeline development and use of Apache Spark, Databricks, or Hadoop.
  • Familiarity with full-stack concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and secure web design.
  • Secure Development & Compliance:
  • Understanding of secure coding practices, ISO 27001, and DoD AI Ethical Principles.
  • Ability to implement and maintain cybersecurity defenses per CMMC Level 1 (or higher, as required).
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication for technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to independently author documentation and deliver briefings.
  • Professionalism: Present a professional appearance; display contractor identification badges at all times; adhere to all base regulations and government conduct policies.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship; eligible for base access.
  • Willingness to travel to other AFRC locations as required (rare, with prior government authorization).
  • Strict compliance with all privacy, safety, and physical/environmental security rules.
  • Ability to maintain service continuity (minimal personnel turnover; proactive management of absences and replacements per contract constraints).
  • Ownership and maintenance of personally-issued computing equipment as consistent with contract terms.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting AI, data, or software solutions for .mil/.gov stakeholders.
  • Understanding of DoD acquisition, contracting, and compliance processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical leadership or project management for innovation/automation initiatives.
