About the Role
Ethos turns life’s most complex financial chores into joyous clicks that protect millions of families. We have redefined how families build, protect, and pass on wealth by creating compelling experiences that span instant life-insurance, digital estate planning, and tax-advantaged wealth building. These offerings have made financial protection simple and accessible for millions of consumers. As Senior Director of Product Design you will own the end-to-end customer experience across this expanding suite, transforming weeks-long offline processes into delightful mobile experiences that educate, build trust, and inspire action.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define the North-Star for multi-product experiences - life insurance, estate planning, wealth building products- maximizing customer value, instilling trust, and inspiring action.
- Build, mentor, and retain a world-class team of UX designers, content designers, and researchers across the U.S. and India.
- Raise the aesthetic and storytelling bar through inspiring goals and clear standards
- Own and optimize design-org processes (prioritization, critique, QA) to support parallel, fast-moving squads and create a culture of excellence.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to launch zero-to-one products, then iterate through rapid experimentation to drive conversion gains.
- Champion a robust design system that delivers visual excellence and accessibility across web, mobile, and partner surfaces.
- Advocate for the customer voice, translating mixed-method research and data into decisive product bets
Qualifications and Skills:
- 15+ years in product/UX design, with 7+ years leading design teams inside high-growth companies.
- 3+ years of D2C experience. Fluent in experimentation, behavioral psychology, and storytelling. Strong track record of creating consumer experiences that earn trust, build intent, and drive conversion.
- Proven success shipping zero-to-one products to millions of users.
- A portfolio showcasing inspirational visual craft and elegant, high-conversion flows that moved key business metrics.
- Track record hiring, coaching, and scaling geographically dispersed teams.
- Executive-level communication and influence with senior stakeholders.
- Thrives in highly analytical, fast-moving cultures. Holds strong opinions that are loosely held.

The US national base salary range for this full-time position is $181,000 - $320,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
