About the role

Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, you will be the strategic operator that accelerates Ethos’ Direct-To-Consumer business—driving new growth initiatives from start to finish while owning the organization-wide planning, goal-setting, and resourcing processes that ensure all teams are focused on the highest-impact work and executing at maximum velocity.

The Consumer business has endless opportunities for growth across an expanding product portfolio, the full customer lifecycle, and multiple acquisition and retention channels. Your job is to identify and prioritize the biggest opportunities and drive many cross-functional initiatives spanning Marketing, Product, Sales, and Engineering from start to finish. You'll also own the planning and goal-setting processes that ensure teams across these functions stay focused on the highest ROI opportunities and execute with velocity.

This is not a role for someone who just recommends—it's for someone who enjoys owning initiatives and delivering results. It's not for someone who stays at high-level strategy—it's for someone who is both strategic and can roll up their sleeves and operate with ease in a complex and fast moving environment that spans multiple product lines, channels, and functions. The team is naturally aligned, truth seeking, and moves fast. So, rather than navigating layers of organizational process, you'll be in the thick of things—working directly with senior leaders, building and growing the business. If that's you, and you want to operate at the center of a high-growth consumer business, this is it.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities across three dimensions: an expanding portfolio of products (term life, IUL, estate planning, annuities), the full customer lifecycle (acquisition, retention, cross-sell), and multiple channels from organic and performance engines to paid social, TV, partnerships, and referrals
  • Drive high-impact growth initiatives from concept to completion—owning some initiatives directly while enabling other leaders to execute others, with full accountability for results. E.g. leading the expansion of a new product into an existing marketing channel, taking an existing product into a new distribution channel, improving retention for a mature product line
  • Rigorously assess new opportunities: build business cases, model unit economics (CAC, LTV, payback, contribution margin), and make data-driven go/no-go recommendations
  • You’d develop a nuanced understanding of how various products, channels, and teams inter-play and leverage that understanding to guide teams across product, marketing, sales, and engineering towards the right goals and priorities
  • Own quarterly OKR planning and goal-setting processes across all functions—ensuring teams are aligned on the highest ROI opportunities and executing with clarity and velocity
  • Lead critical cross-functional projects that span Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Partnerships to deliver business growth

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years total experience, ideally 2+ years in top-tier management consulting (McKinsey, Bain, BCG) or investment banking, followed by 2+ years in Strategy & Operations, Chief of Staff, or BizOps at a high-growth, venture-backed company
  • Track record of delivering results directly—you have multiple stories where you owned and drove initiatives end-to-end and know what it takes to truly deliver in fast-moving environments, not just make recommendations
  • Ability to go deep and zoom out—you can dive into the nuances of a problem, understand it at an underlying level, then zoom back to think strategically about implications and next moves
  • True operator mindset—you don't just recommend, you own outcomes and get your hands dirty to make things happen
  • Ability to understand nuances across functions—you can grasp the intricacies of different functional areas and earn the trust of leaders through depth of understanding and delivery of results
  • Structured thinking—you take complex, ambiguous problems and break them down into clear, actionable frameworks that drive decisions
  • Rapid learner—you have the willingness and ability to ramp up on new concepts, channels, and product nuances quickly, understanding them at an underlying level, not just at a high-level business construct
  • Exceptional communicator who can zoom between C-level strategy and operational details, crafting crisp narratives in both written materials and live executive forums
  • Sharp decision-making skills with bias for action and speed—you thrive in high-velocity environments and don't wait for perfect information to move forward

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
