About the role
We're looking for someone at the top of their craft who thrives on complex problems and high-stakes execution—this is a high-autonomy, 100% individual contributor role designed for a seasoned pro who wants to lead the work, not a team. This is a role for someone who knows how to stop a scroll, communicate a value prop in seconds, and write copy that doesn't just look good, it performs.
The ideal candidate is a strategic storyteller with deep scripting experience, from TV commercials and long-form content to paid social creative that converts. You'll have experience working both in an agency setting and on the client side, giving you a unique perspective on the creative process from all angles. A deep understanding of direct response (DR) principles is essential; this isn't just about brand-building, it's about writing scripts and copy that drive action and deliver measurable results across every screen and format.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Concepting and scripting for video and TV campaigns, including scripts for :15 and :30-second spots.
- Concept and craft engaging and effective scripts for various video platforms, including YouTube, OTT, and paid social.
- Develop scripts for user-generated content (UGC) and talking points for influencer and podcast host collaborations.
- Review performance data to understand what's working and what's not, and use those insights to optimize future creativity.
- Understand consumer research and pain points to write compelling, persuasive copy with clear CTAs to drive conversion.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure a consistent and cohesive brand voice across all consumer touchpoints.
- Ability to stretch across platforms like paid social and email
- Lead direct response copy strategy, developing copy frameworks, value proposition hierarchies, and messaging architectures that drive measurable results.
- Review performance dashboards regularly, extracting insights to brief new creative, kill what isn't working, and scale what is.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5-6 years of copywriting experience, with significant time spent writing for video and TV.
- A portfolio that demonstrates a strong command of direct response (DR) principles, in addition to brand-focused work.
- Demonstrated experience writing for short-form video formats across Meta, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Strong analytical instincts. You're comfortable in a performance dashboard and know how to translate data into creative action.
- Experience in fintech, SaaS, subscription, or other non-physical product categories is a significant plus.
- A collaborative, low-ego approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, test-and-learn environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to sell creative ideas to growth marketers and business stakeholders alike.
