About Ethos

Ethos (Nasdaq: $LIFE) is a leading life insurance technology company on a mission to protect families by democratizing access to life insurance and empowering agents at scale. With its robust three-sided technology platform, Ethos is transforming the life insurance experience for consumers, agents, and carriers alike. Ethos offers instant, accessible products and a seamless online process that requires no medical exams and just a few health questions; it eliminates traditional barriers, making it easier than ever for everyone to protect their families. Ethos is redefining how life insurance is bought, sold, and underwritten.

About Ethos

Ethos makes life insurance simple to buy, through our own platform and through agent and partner channels. Salesforce supports our sales, customer experience, and partnership teams as they grow. We are looking for a Salesforce Developer to build and support the custom applications and integrations these teams depend on, from design through deployment.

About the Role

You will design, build, and support applications and integrations on Salesforce. This is full-lifecycle work: requirements, design, build, test, deploy, and support. We work source-driven and Git-based, and we release through automated pipelines instead of large quarterly releases.

You'll work with Salesforce Administrators, business analysts, data engineers, and product engineering teams, as part of the Enterprise Systems team.

What you'll work on

  • Event integrations. Customer and policy events from our product platform update Salesforce in near real time and sync out to our sales and marketing systems.
  • Partner APIs. APIs that partners and internal services use to manage agent and partner data in Salesforce.
  • Consent and compliance. Contact preferences and Do-Not-Contact requests that must stay consistent across our communication systems.
  • Sales and service tooling. Apps, automation, and routing for our sales agents and service teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Build reliable event-driven integrations. Handle duplicate and late events, recover from failures, and give support teams clear diagnostics.
  • Build and maintain inbound REST APIs and outbound callouts to external systems.
  • Build and improve Apex, LWC, and Flow solutions. Maintain existing automation, and move logic to Apex when scale, control, or testing needs require it.
  • Write Apex that works at volume. Bulkify every path and design around governor limits, record locks, and async job limits.
  • Protect personal and health data. Enforce appropriate sharing, object and field access, and least privilege. Choose execution context explicitly, document privileged integration operations, and keep sensitive data out of logs.
  • Build integrations with Named and External Credentials, OAuth 2.0, Platform Events, Change Data Capture, and Apex REST. Design for retries, idempotency, and partial failure.
  • Write tests that check behavior and failure cases. Use mocks where appropriate, address static-analysis findings, and review code from teammates, contractors, and AI tools.
  • Deploy through Git-based CI/CD. Manage sandboxes, destructive changes, rollback plans, and the three annual Salesforce releases. Keep Git and production in sync.
  • Support what we've shipped. Triage production issues, debug across integration boundaries, and fix root causes instead of symptoms.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Typically 5+ years of Salesforce development experience, not admin and config work alone, or equivalent evidence of delivering and supporting production systems.
  • Strong Apex, SOQL, bulk processing, asynchronous processing, and automated testing skills.
  • Experience building REST or event-driven integrations that handle duplicate messages, retries, and partial failures.
  • Ability to build and debug Flow and LWC (modern JavaScript, ES6+) solutions, and explain when Apex is the better choice.
  • Experience with Salesforce data models, sharing, object and field access, Salesforce CLI, Git, and automated deployments.
  • Ability to investigate production failures, review code, and explain technical decisions to business teams.
  • You use the team's AI coding tools and check their output for correctness, security, and maintainability.

Nice to have

  • Experience with trigger frameworks and layered Apex design (domain, selector, and service classes), dependency injection, and mocking libraries.
  • Experience integrating Salesforce with customer data platforms, contact-center systems, marketing tools, or identity providers.
  • Insurance or financial services experience, especially with agent or partner distribution.
  • Consent and privacy compliance (TCPA, CCPA).
  • Salesforce Platform Developer II certification.

Our stack

Salesforce Sales Cloud and Service Cloud, Apex, LWC, Flow, Platform Events, and Change Data Capture. Integrations with customer data, contact-center, marketing, and identity platforms. GitHub with automated CI/CD. Snowflake as our warehouse. Slack for collaboration and alerting. Jira for tracking.
