
Technical Administrator & Project Management
Job Summary
We are seeking a Technical Administrator for a 24-month maternity cover contract. This role is based in the office three days per week and requires a strong background in telecommunications and project management.
This role is critical to supporting technical operations and ensuring efficient project execution within our Network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will manage daily technical administrative tasks, coordinate project activities, and serve as a key link between technical teams and management to ensure smooth operations. Additionally, the role involves providing detailed engineering documentation to our suppliers and partners, ensuring timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Administration:
- Support in Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Assisting technical engineers in performing Root Cause Analysis by gathering relevant data, organising information, and documenting findings.
- Escalation Support: Helping escalate issues to senior technical teams or external vendors when necessary by ensuring that all relevant information is properly communicated to resolve network problems swiftly.
- Continuous Improvement: Documenting lessons learned from RFOs/RCAs to improve network and operational performance and minimise the recurrence of similar issues in the future.
Project Management:
- Assist the delivery teams with planning, executing, and managing delivery projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Prepare project documentation including timelines, project plans, and status reports.
- Track project progress and manage risks, dependencies, and any changes in project scope.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including technical teams, project managers, and external vendors.
- Manage project resources, schedules, and deliverables using project management tools.
- Prepare and provide detailed engineering documentation (e.g., network designs, technical specifications, cable run lists and installation procedures) to suppliers and partners to ensure all project requirements are met and deadlines are achieved.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Serve as a liaison between technical teams, clients, and management, ensuring clear and efficient communication.
- Coordinate meetings, site visits, and technical reviews, maintaining meeting minutes and follow-up actions.
- Provide regular updates on technical performance and project progress to senior leadership.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including network designs, installation procedures, and system configurations.
- Help support and maintain accurate records of network inventory.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2-5 years of experience in a technical administrative role within the telecom industry.
- Proven experience with telecom systems, networks, and troubleshooting processes.
- Familiarity with telecom standards, network protocols, and system infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, with experience in managing small to mid-size telecom projects.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, project management tools (such as MS Project).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
- Experience with telecom infrastructure such as fiber optics, WDM, wireless networks, and or data centers.
- Knowledge of telecom regulations and compliance standards.
- Familiarity with cloud-based communication systems and emerging telecom technologies.
