Director, Project Management (PMO)
Everlaw is seeking a seasoned Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) to lead our high-performing project management team, scale our project governance model, and guide a portfolio of strategic, cross-functional initiatives. This is a pivotal leadership role that requires deep expertise in project, change, and resource management, a strong strategic mindset, and the ability to coach and grow a team of experienced professionals. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders across all disciplines and the senior leadership, and make a big impact on the overall success of our business.
This is a full-time, exempt position based in our Oakland, CA office with a hybrid work schedule: in office M/W/Th with the option to work from home Tu/Fr.

In your role, you'll...
Lead and evolve the PMO function:
- Set the strategy for the PMO, ensuring alignment and visibility with company priorities and maturity stage.
- Continuously refine team structure, roles, and responsibilities to meet evolving business needs.
- Build and maintain scalable project governance frameworks, tools, and standards that drive clarity, accountability, and execution excellence.
Coach and scale a high-performing team:
- Mentor and support a team of project managers working on high-impact, cross-functional programs.
- Provide thought partnership and hands-on support for navigating complex, ambiguous, or high-risk projects.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and collaboration.
Manage the project portfolio and execution oversight:
- Develop and drive a comprehensive, strategic project roadmap that aligns with business objectives and delivers measurable results.
- Define and track operational and portfolio-level metrics to assess performance, surface risks, and inform continuous improvement.
- Monitor the health and progress of critical initiatives, identifying and mitigating risks
- Provide senior leaders with clear visibility into progress and challenges, and partner with them to ensure alignment, manage tradeoffs, and adapt to evolving priorities.
- Step in to directly lead high-priority or complex projects when needed — especially those requiring executive alignment or cross-functional coordination beyond the team’s capacity.
Drive impact through stakeholder influence and change leadership:
- Build strong partnerships with executive and senior leaders across departments.
- Facilitate alignment and decision-making across diverse perspectives.
- Champion change management best practices to drive adoption and engagement across the organization.
About you
- You have at least 10 years’ experience in project management, and 6+ years of experience in leading project management teams and functions in high-growth, cross-functional technical environments.
- You’ve scaled a PMO and can navigate between strategy and execution with ease.
- You hold a PMP or equivalent certification, and you're an expert in modern project, change, and resource management methodologies.
- You’ve successfully hired, coached, and developed seasoned project managers.
- You excel at influencing executive stakeholders, removing roadblocks, and driving alignment across functions.
- You bring strong business and product acumen that enables you to support nuanced decision-making and strategic goal setting.
- You're comfortable with complexity and thrive in dynamic, rapidly evolving environments.
- You are egoless with introspection and a growth mindset.
- You have a bachelor's degree.

- The expected salary range for this role is between $208,000 and $263,000. The final offered salary will be dependent upon many factors including the candidate’s experience and skills. The base pay range is subject to change in the future.
