About the Role

EverPass Streaming Engineers are expected to have a working knowledge of all areas of our product, from the point of view of our customers and staff. This enhances their ability to add value by proposing the best solutions to their needs.

The Tech Stack

Our applications use React, Apollo Client on the front end and Nodejs, graphql, Mysql, redis and elastic search which are split across multiple services. All of this lives in mono repo with "turn key" docker powered development environment allowing you as a developer to focus on what matters. Everything packed in a next generation PWA (Progressive Web Application) running in kiosk mode on Google Chrome OS devices, making us one of the first Google partners to build PWA's for the new ChromeOS web API's.

Essential Duties and responsibilities: 
  • Design and implement innovative live streaming workflows.
  • Develop support tools, scripts, and dashboards to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot encoding and segmentation issues to ensure seamless streaming.
  • Maintain and support our live encoders and VOD transcoding farms.
  • Document workflows and standard operation procedures for knowledge sharing.
  • Provide guidance to external teams on live encoder/packaging workflows.
  • Have a general understanding the EverPass platform and its components, and how to match our quality standards
  • Keep their team updated with their own status
  • Be able to identify risk and propose solutions to complex challenges
  • keep themselves updated with the technologies involved in our platform
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of progressively complex related experience.
  • Experience in a video OTT/broadcast environment.
  • Basic understanding of DAI workflows in an OTT environment.
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems in both the video and IT domains.
  • Proficiency in video codecs and compression (H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC).
  • Familiarity with audio codecs and containers (AAC, PCM, AC-3, EAC-3, MPEG-1 Layer-II).
  • Comfortable working with Mac, Linux, specifically on the command line.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams.
  • Basic scripting experience (BASH, Python????).
  • Comfortable troubleshooting with Transport Stream and Elementary Stream analyzers.
  • Experience with video transport protocols such as RTMP, SRT, Zixi, HLS, MPEG-DASH.
  • Experience supporting live-streaming delivery at scale.
  • Experience working with AWS Elemental products considered a plus, but not required
