What is this job?

The Therapist will be the primary point of contact for family members and will deliver clinical intervention, including but not limited to individual, group and family therapies. All of Everstand’s therapists are credentialed and certified trauma professionals within their first year at Everstand. The Therapist works closely with all members of the care team to design and implement guidance and treatment plans for the youth in order to develop, support and encourage safe behaviors, self-regulation and healthy relationship.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide trauma-informed individual, group, and family therapy within the scope of professional licensure.
  • Develop, monitor, and update Individual Treatment, Safety, and Transition/Discharge Plans.
  • Complete psychosocial and ongoing clinical assessments and monitor progress toward treatment goals.
  • Implement evidence-based treatment practices and participate in required training, supervision, and consultation.
  • Participate on interdisciplinary care teams and collaborate with psychiatrists, case managers, supervisors, families, schools, and community providers.
  • Provide clinical consultation and guidance to direct-care staff regarding youth needs, behaviors, and interventions.
  • Support case management, referrals, family engagement, and coordination of community resources.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, case records, reports, and billing.
  • Participate in required clinical, care team, ITP, IEP, and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Promote Everstand’s values and provide safe, empathetic, relationship-focused care.
  • Serve as Therapist on Call on a rotating basis or work a scheduled weekend shift for family engagement activities.

POSITION TYPE & SCHEDULE

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 9:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with two evening shifts as needed. One work-from-home day may be available. The position may include rotating Therapist on Call responsibilities or a weekend shift in place of evening shifts. Occasional evening or weekend family engagement events may be required. Flex scheduling may be available per Everstand policy.

TRAVEL

Primarily local travel for community meetings, family-home therapy, hospital support, and transportation of youth. Occasional overnight, out-of-area, or out-of-state travel may be required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

  • Current Maryland license: LMSW, LGPC, LCSW-C, LCPC, LGMFT, LCMFT, LGPAT, or LCPAT.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience providing therapy to children and families.
  • At least one year of post-graduate experience.
  • Current LCSW-C or LCPC Maryland license.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to assess youth and family needs and develop treatment and discharge plans.
  • Ability to provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based practices.
  • Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to use electronic health records and calendars.
  • Successful completion of required certifications, background checks, fingerprinting, drug screening, TB screening, and work-readiness physical.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work occurs in office, residential, and school settings. The position may involve exposure to challenging behaviors, including physical aggression and emotional outbursts. Must be able to provide crisis intervention and physically intervene or restrain a student when necessary. May occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds and perform routine physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs.
