About the role

As a Principal AI/ML Engineer at Everway, you’ll design and build the core AI infrastructure that powers intelligent functionality across our entire product suite. This is not a narrow MLOps or feature engineering role — you’ll be part of a small, high-impact team responsible for creating foundational AI systems used across content retrieval, content levelling, GenAI orchestration, and multi-language model integration.

You’ll work closely with AI engineers, product teams, and platform engineering to ensure our AI capabilities are reusable, robust, and production-grade — enabling Everway to scale AI impact across learner and educator experiences globally.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design and implement shared AI services (e.g. retrieval, content levelling, model routing, evaluation frameworks)

  • Build and maintain ML model pipelines, embedding infrastructure, and vector search layers

  • Collaborate with product and GenAI teams to integrate AI platform components into live workflows

  • Define and enforce standards for scalable, maintainable AI infra

  • Contribute to model quality evaluation, observability, and safety infrastructure

  • Work across multiple languages and data modalities (text, image, structured input)

  • Participate in architectural reviews, technical planning, and roadmap discussions

Essential Criteria

  • 5+ years of experience in machine learning, AI infrastructure, or applied ML engineering

  • Proven experience building production ML systems, not just research or prototyping

  • Strong software engineering skills (Python, backend APIs, cloud infra)

  • Hands-on experience with vector search, semantic embeddings, and retrieval systems

  • Solid understanding of LLMs and modern GenAI system architectures

  • Experience with model deployment frameworks (e.g. Ray, MLFlow, SageMaker, custom infra)

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience with multilingual or accessibility-focused NLP

  • Familiarity with content generation or authoring platforms (e.g. CMS integrations)

  • Previous work in education or assistive tech sectors

  • Knowledge of prompt orchestration tools, safety frameworks, and GenAI evaluation approaches

  • Comfortable working in early-stage, high-autonomy environments
