About the role

As a Software Developer, you'll design, build and maintain software that delivers reliable, secure, and scalable solutions for our customers. You'll work on the Equatio Product, working closely with Product, UX, QA, Infrastructure, and Engineering colleagues to develop high-quality software throughout the product lifecycle. You'll contribute to technical discussions, help improve engineering practices, and support the continuous evolution of our products and development processes.


This is a Northern Ireland-based hybrid role, with an expectation that you will work from our Antrim office one day per week.

Main Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop and maintain software applications using agreed technologies and engineering standards.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software defects.
  • Maintain technical documentation to support development and ongoing maintenance.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to colleagues.
  • Collaborate with UX Designers to deliver accessible and intuitive user experiences.
  • Work with Infrastructure teams to ensure applications are secure, reliable, and deployable.
  • Partner with QA throughout development to deliver high-quality software.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to improving development processes, tooling, and engineering practices.
  • Keep up to date with relevant technologies and software development practices.

Essential Criteria

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience developing web software using Javascript, Typescript, React and CSS.
  • Experience working with Node.js.
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Product, Design, QA, and Engineering teams.
  • Communicates clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Experience delivering software features from development through testing and release.
  • Uses AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, documentation, or testing.

Desirable Criteria

  • Degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as SQL or MySQL.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, or Infrastructure as Code.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices, including OWASP guidance.
