Position Description
We’re looking for an Ultrasound Assistant to support our sonographer in performing ultrasounds, working closely with the remote radiologist, hospital team, and other veterinary professionals. This role requires multitasking in a fast-paced environment and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, clients, and veterinarians.
What You Can Expect To Do
- Assist the sonographer in safely preparing and supporting patients for ultrasounds.
- Communicate professionally and clearly with technicians, veterinarians, and clients.
- Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and stocking of the ultrasound suite, including equipment.
- Prepare diagnostic cytology slides, handle biopsies, and perform basic monitoring of sedated patients.
- Collaborate closely with the VCSG team, fostering a positive and cooperative work environment.
- Use the EMR system, manage basic computer tasks, and assist with other administrative duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned throughout the hospital/across departments to assist in maintaining a smooth, effective work environment.
What You Have
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills: You are comfortable with professional interactions with veterinary staff and clients and maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to stand for 8-10 hours and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology, safe animal patient restraint, diagnostic slide preparation, and the use of common sedatives along with monitoring patient vitals is preferred. Training is available to the right candidate with a willingness to learn.
- Organization Skills: Maintain the ultrasound suite’s cleanliness, manage stock and supplies, and prepare necessary materials.
- Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in Outlook and electronic medical record usage. Experience with Instinct software is a plus!
