Head of Data Engineering- Foundational Data
Compensation: $210,000-$230,000 per year depending on experience.

Role Overview: 
We are seeking a highly motivated Head of Data Engineering to lead our Foundational Data Team. You will be responsible for identifying new opportunities to generate intelligence from our data using AI, managing third party data sources inclusive of spend and integration, and ensuring reliable and secure data availability to our core product suite. While Exactera has demonstrated excellence in these areas, our tremendous growth necessitates deeper, more specialized focus. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team of data engineers to advance our data capabilities through AI and provide reliable data operations for our core product suite.
  • Define and champion the strategy for providing data driven intelligence to our products while minimizing risk and cost.
  • Spend a majority of your time serving as an individual contributor in defining and executing our AI and data cost mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate with senior leadership and ensure reliable, cohesive collaboration between the foundational data team and other product engineering teams.
  • Identify opportunities for applying cutting edge technologies to generate new data intelligence.
  • Be a champion of common sense and instill a bias for action.
  • Solve complex problems and implement scalable solutions using best practices.
  • Ensure our data operations exhibit best-in-class reliability, security, integrity and performance.
  • Adapt to team culture quickly, demonstrating a positive and collaborative approach, with consistent async communication.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

  • 10+ years of demonstrated Data Engineering delivery to business outcomes (both hands on and leadership).
  • 5+ years of deep understanding in AI subject areas (ML, GenAI, etc.)
  • Ability to inspire a team to be motivated by strong business outcomes.
  • A strong understanding of data engineering best practices.
  • Extensive experience in data ingestion and migration, with a proven track record of successful ETL implementations.
  • Vast experience integrating with multiple disparate data sources, both internal and external to a previous organization.
  • Strong background in SQL best practices and data base performance management.
  • Experience performing cost benefit analyses when evaluating business decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to get up to speed quickly in new environments and domains.
  • High level of self-motivation with a strong delivery mindset.
  • Proven track record of collaborating effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively under pressure.
