Lead DevOps Engineer/Architect (Azure)

We are seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer/Azure Cloud Architect who will spearhead our cloud architecture initiatives and ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our systems. This role combines deep Azure cloud expertise, Kubernetes orchestration, SRE principles, and infrastructure-as-code practices (Terraform) to drive modern DevOps excellence.

About the Client

The company is headquartered in New York City, has 60+ offices in the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East, and employs 4,500+ professionals. This international management consulting company focuses on retail services.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and oversee Azure cloud architecture to support scalable and secure applications
• Lead the adoption and operation of Kubernetes for container orchestration, ensuring high availability and resilience
• Champion Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to enhance system reliability, observability, and incident response
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, enabling repeatable, auditable, and efficient infrastructure deployment
• Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to align cloud architecture with business and technical goals
• Drive CI/CD pipeline improvements and ensure best practices for automated build, test, and deployment processes
• Mentor and guide engineering teams on DevOps tooling, cloud technologies, and architectural patterns
• Contribute to cost optimization, cloud governance, and compliance initiatives
• Participate in system architecture reviews and ensure alignment with enterprise standards
• Advocate for continuous improvement, automation, and modern engineering practices across the organization

What You Bring

• 10+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud architecture, or related technical leadership roles
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure platform, including compute, storage, networking, identity, and security services
• Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes clusters (AKS or equivalent)
• Strong background in SRE principles (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident management, monitoring/observability)
• Advanced skills in Terraform (or similar IaC tools) for managing cloud infrastructure
• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps culture
• Experience designing large-scale distributed systems with an emphasis on reliability, security, and performance
• Strong communication and leadership abilities to influence and guide technical teams and stakeholders

Nice to have

• Experience with hybrid cloud or multi-cloud strategies
• Familiarity with additional automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef)
• Exposure to cost management and FinOps practices
• Certifications in Azure (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert)
