Overview
A Database Administrator role supporting a large client program working across multiple Agile delivery teams. Responsible for developing, monitoring and optimizing databases for web applications. Mentors DBA team members and manages team workloads.
Responsibilities
- Developing, monitoring and optimizing databases for web applications
- Develop SQL scripts for applications, canned reports, and ad-hoc requests
- Lead migration efforts for legacy datasets
- Serve as the main point of contact for enterprise data teams
- Bring a DevOps mindset to database development by automating processes, fully utilizing source control for all DB tasks, and removing dark work.
- Mentor developers in database practices, and serve as a database SME for multiple agile teams
- Help set mid-long term technical roadmaps as it pertains to database development, maintenance and migration.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience developing, monitoring and optimizing MS SQL Server and Postgres databases
- Good knowledge of the major AWS Cloud services and tools
- Experience designing and building databases within an AWS Cloud environment, including working with services like EC2, RDS, DMS, S3, and IAM
- Experience using AWS auto-scaling services to automatically adjust capacity and maintain predictable performance at optimal cost
- Experience using monitoring solutions like AWS CloudWatch
- Experience using version control solutions like GitHub or BitBucket
- Experience working in Agile delivery environment using frameworks like Scrum, Kanban or SAFe
- Experience in database migration from on-prem databases into the AWS Cloud using AWS DMS
- Experience in IAM DB Authentication to configure the roles/policies to database users
- Experience upgrading MS SQL Server and Postgres databases
- Experience with database backup and recovery using AWS Backup service
- 2+ years experience mentoring and/or supervising technical team members
