Tax Manager

Remote (United States)

Exodus is looking for an experienced and hands-on Tax Manager to lead our tax function. In this role, you will manage all aspects of our tax compliance and reporting process, including the quarterly and annual provision. You’ll also work cross-functionally to improve processes, ensure compliance, and provide technical guidance on both domestic and international tax matters in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. You will be the in-house tax expert and manage the relationship with the auditor’s tax team. 

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute global tax strategy to minimize tax risk and maximize cash flow. 
  • Prepare the quarterly and annual income tax provision, including footnote disclosures and related memorandum
  • Manage U.S. federal, state, and international tax compliance 
  • Maintain documentation, schedules, and controls supporting tax reporting and compliance
  • Manage transfer pricing documentation, R&D tax credit claims, and Section 174 analysis.
  • Manage international tax planning and M&A-related tax analysis and structuring when applicable
  • Monitor global tax developments and assess their potential impact on the company
  • Help design and implement scalable tax processes to support a growing business 
  • Collaborate with FP&A and Legal on intercompany matters

Who You Are

You are a high-output problem solver who brings extreme ownership to every tax and compliance challenge. You do not accept last-minute filings, outdated schedules, or unclear documentation as acceptable. Instead, you get ahead of deadlines, clarify complexity, and build systems that make global compliance reliable and repeatable. “Close enough” is not an option when accuracy, audit readiness, and regulatory trust are at stake.

You understand that proactive, technically sound tax reporting is essential to long-term success as a public company. You anticipate provision inputs, spot risks before they surface, and create solutions that scale with the business. You help the finance team become a multiplier across Exodus, not a source of friction, by delivering clean filings, fewer surprises, and streamlined collaboration.

You are not just looking for a job. You want to build the tax function that supports a public company’s growth and strengthens its foundation every quarter.

In addition, you bring: 

  • CPA required
  • 7+ years of tax experience, including direct experience preparing the tax provision at a public company
  • Strong understanding of U.S. corporate tax and international tax
  • Comfortable working independently and managing third-party providers
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Effective communicator in a fully remote environment

A Plus

  • Big Four public accounting or tax advisory experience
  • Master’s degree in Tax or relevant graduate degree
  • Experience with tax structuring or due diligence for M&A
  • Interest or experience in digital asset taxation

Benefits

Health: Most of our health insurance plans are covered 100% for you and covered 50% for your dependents. We’ll also cover dental insurance. If you are outside of the United States, we will reimburse you up to $500 per month for any medical and dental insurance for you and your dependents.

PTO: 30 days of paid time off per year on top of a flexible schedule where you can work wherever and whenever. If you’re part-time with us, you’ll still receive 15 days of paid time off.

Unlimited Bereavement: We will pay you your full salary for the first two weeks for the loss of any immediate family members but we allow you to take all the time you need to grieve outside of that.

Parental Leave: 13 weeks of fully paid leave with and a month of flexible work for the primary caregiver. 4 weeks of paid leave if you are the child's secondary caregiver.

Tax Help: Getting paid in Bitcoin new to you? Don’t worry! We will reimburse you for speaking with a professional tax specialist in your state/country to make sure everything is taken care of.

Salary Range

$155,000 - $165,000 USD
