What you'll do

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Counsel to join our Legal Team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive legal support and strategic guidance to our product development teams and will work closely with our General Counsel based in Cologne/Germany and our CPO based in New York City. You will play a critical role in ensuring our products comply with applicable laws and regulations, including data privacy, consumer protection and advertising standards.

Your day-to-day activities

  • Legal guidance: Provide proactive legal advice and support to product, engineering and business teams throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Compliance: Ensure that products comply with applicable laws and regulations, including the areas of IP, privacy, competition, consumer protection and advertising laws
  • Risk management: Work with product and engineering to identify and mitigate legal risks associated with new and existing products, features, and initiatives
  • Documentation: Draft, review and negotiate a variety of agreements, including terms of service, privacy policies and product-specific contracts
  • Policy development: Develop and implement internal policies and procedures related to products to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, marketing, public relations, policy and sales to integrate legal considerations into product design and strategy
  • Monitoring: Stay current with changes in relevant laws and regulations and advise the company on necessary adjustments to policies and practices
  • External liaison: Coordinate with external legal counsel and regulatory bodies as necessary

What you bring to the table

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD), UK LLB degree or equivalent from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one state bar
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, with a focus on product counseling, preferably in AdTech 
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA), consumer protection laws, advertising and related legal frameworks
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide practical solutions
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
  • Interpersonal: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
