UI/UX Designer
Factored was conceived in Palo Alto, California by Andrew Ng and a team of highly experienced AI researchers, educators, and engineers to help address the significant shortage of qualified AI & Machine-Learning engineers globally. Our GTM team is growing rapidly, and we're looking for a UI/UX Designer who brings strategic vision, exceptional craft, and systemic thinking to both product development and marketing-led experiences. This role is hybrid in nature, leading client facing work and supporting internal product initiatives. You’ll also help shape the design culture within Factored as a member of our UI/UX function.
You’ll work closely with engineers, PMs, marketers, and business leaders to translate complex ideas into intuitive, scalable, and impactful user experiences.
Functional Responsibilities
Key Client Responsibilities
- Lead UI/UX Strategy from 0 to 1: Define best practices, research workflows, and design execution for client products.
- Integrate analytical dashboards into their products: Provide strategic guidance as well as exceptional execution for UI/UX and with external stakeholders. (Power BI)
- Ensure analytical dashboards showcase valuable insights. Translate complex data into actionable, intuitive dashboard interfaces and build clean, impactful reporting, visualization and actionable insights.
- Build wire frames for web-based applications. Built for scale, automation and optimization. There will also be updates to the website itself.
- Create High-Impact Visualizations: Ensure data storytelling aligns with user goals and business outcomes.
- Collaborate with a full stack engineer. You will lead and collaborate with to build and launch your work.
Key Internal Responsibilities
- Integrate with the product team: Helping to build and optimize UI/UX for internal and external customers.
- Define UX Standards: Help build and optimize Factored’s internal product experiences, ensuring they reflect our brand and values.
- Design Ops & Systems Thinking: Create scalable, reusable components and design systems that support internal and client tools.
- Integrate with the brand team: Ensuring our values and principles reflect across the user experience.
- Be the founding teammate of UI/UX design for customer facing work: helping to establish interaction models, best practices and process.
- Lead our UI/UX function within our marketing team for product: Establish resource requirements, strategic implementation and be a proactive advocate for the function.
General Responsibilities
- Dashboard & Analytics Design: Translate complex data into intuitive, interactive analytics dashboards and visualizations for both technical and non‑technical audiences
- End-to-end UX Flow: Plan and execute full UX processes—research, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity screens, interaction design, usability testing.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with full-stack engineers, product managers, researchers, and other stakeholders to integrate UX into development cycles.
- Design Systems & UI Consistency: Build and maintain design systems or component libraries for dashboards and web apps, focusing on scalable UI consistency.
- User Research & Testing: Conduct user interviews, surveys, usability studies, and iterate designs based on quantitative/qualitative insights.
- Communicate Design Decisions: Present design choices, rationale, and user insights to technical and non‑technical teams.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- 8+ years as a UI/UX designer.
- Degree in Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
- Proven experience designing, dashboards, or data-heavy environments.
- Knowledge of design systems architecture and governance.
- Familiarity with A/B testing, conversion funnel analysis, and CRO principles.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams across multiple time zones in agile settings.
Technical & design skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Figma and/or Adobe XD.
- Familiarity with design systems tools like Storybook, Zeroheight, or similar.
- Understanding of front-end frameworks and developer collaboration (React, HTML/CSS/JS).
- Experience with user research and testing tools (Hotjar, Maze, Useberry, Lookback, etc.).
Analytical & collaboration skills:
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex data visually in dashboards.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to interface with engineers and stakeholders.
- Curious, evidence-driven mindset—comfortable collecting and applying user feedback.
