CMOS Image Sensor Characterization Engineer
Fairchild Imaging, headquartered in San Jose, California is a specialty image sensor design and manufacturing company with deep experience in developing leading edge performance CMOS image sensors. Our portfolio of image sensors can be found in many high-performance imaging applications like space exploration, medical x-ray, sciences, quantum computing, machine vision, low light, and 360 situational awareness.
We are looking for a CMOS Image Sensor Characterization Engineer who will have the opportunity to optimize our image sensor designs and performance.
Duties include:
- Perform complete electrical and optical characterization of various CMOS image sensors for visible UV and X-ray applications.
- Characterize and optimize pixel parameter (Bias current/voltage, control timing, Transistor (Tr.) size, Vth and Gox); Circuit parameter (Bias current/voltage, control timing).
- Collaborate with design, validation, product engineering, and test teams to ensure product performance requirements are met.
- Perform root cause analysis on performance anomalies and support design/debug efforts to debug problems on new and existing pixel/circuit designs.
- Identify and recommend optimal sensor operating conditions including bias and timing settings.
- Generate detailed reports and present findings to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support the transition from development to production by validating performance at scale, for example: characterizing split lot conditions and consulting with pixel design and process integration teams to define final pixel process conditions.
- Develop and maintain automated test setups using specialized lab equipment (e.g., light sources, optics, image capture platforms).
- Write scripts to do data collection, analysis and image process.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields plus 5 (5) years of experience in CMOS image sensor
Required skills/experience:
- Strong knowledge of image sensor fundamentals and optoelectronic behavior.
- Understanding pixel and circuit operation and timing.
- CMOS Image Sensor ("CIS") pixel characterization, with hands-on experience in accurately assessing pixel performance.
- Trouble shooting - PTC irregularities, non-linearity, etc.
- End-to-end process development for image sensors, from conceptualization to final implementation, ensuring optimal functionality and performance.
- Experience with test automation and lab equipment for sensor evaluation.
- Coding skills using, Python, MATLAB, C++
- Understanding of industry standards such as EMVA 1288
- Clear documentation and communication skills.
