about our internship program:

The fairlife Summer Internship Program is designed to welcome interns across our locations to gain meaningful experience and social and professional development opportunities. For 11 weeks, interns will work in one of our three locations: Chicago, IL, Coopersville, MI, or Goodyear, AZ. fairlife’s paid internship program also offers a summer full of social, professional, and community engagement events including exposure to our senior leadership and executives across the business in small group settings, insight into company initiatives, off-site field trips, and for those qualified and selected, an opportunity to pursue a full-time job opportunity.

 The fairlife 2025 Summer Internship Program will take place from 6/2 through 8/15 at the fairlife location specified in this job description.

job purpose: The Category Commercial intern at fairlife will support the Category Commercial team in developing both short-term and long-term commercial strategies for fairlife’s Value Added Dairy products. The intern will perform quantitative and qualitative analyses to build a comprehensive understanding of the value-added dairy category, identifying key trends and insights. They will collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to support strategic commercial initiatives and help reach fairlife’s goals. This role aims to provide the intern with a thorough understanding of fairlife’s portfolio and operations, and an opportunity to build the skills necessary to work in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)/Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry.

skills/qualifications required: 

  • Must be currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program, entering the fall semester as a junior or senior (preferred)
  • Preferred academic focus on Marketing, Business Strategy, Operations, Management, Data Analytics/Business Statistics, and/or Consumer Insights
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0, or higher
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple groups in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Highly organized and able to consistently meet deadlines
  • Curious, always asking questions and eager to continue learning
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint

    • Build a thorough understanding of the value-added dairy category, including emerging trends, market dynamics, and consumer preferences
    • Gain insight into fairlife’s competitive positioning within the category and help in identifying opportunities for growth and innovation
    • Learn how to apply industry-specific knowledge to support commercial strategies and category management efforts
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Learn the dynamics of working within a highly collaborative environment
    • Cultivate skills in coordinating and communicating with various teams and business stakeholders including marketing, sales, and supply chain
    • Gain exposure into the processes and frameworks used to manage cross-functional projects and initiatives

    • Develop an understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics used to evaluate the success of commercial strategies
    • Become more comfortable using analytical tools and methodologies to conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses and then interpret results
    • Enhance critical thinking skills by leveraging both quantitative and qualitative insights to form a holistic view of marketplace performance and the competitive landscape
  • Crafting a Compelling Business Narrative with Actionable Insights
    • Gain experience translating analysis findings into strategic recommendations that are easily understood by non-technical stakeholders
    • Learn how to create compelling presentations and reports, using data visualization and storytelling, to effectively communicate results and recommendations
    • Gain experience in supporting the development and execution of commercialization plans to drive market success
