job purpose:
The Equipment Technician serves as a technical expert for specified piece(s) of equipment. They work alongside the operations and maintenance teams to provide troubleshooting support. Additionally, the Equipment Technician owns equipment reliability through the execution of preventive maintenance and participation in reliability meetings and routines.
responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical expert for specified piece(s) of equipment.
- Provide troubleshooting support to operations and maintenance teams.
- Ownership of equipment condition and reliability:
- Participate in reliability meetings and routines.
- Recommend and implement solutions to improve equipment.
- Communicate issues and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Coordinate and complete annual rebuilds (shutdowns).
- Create and maintain equipment records and documentation:
- Operating procedures and work guides.
- Work orders and spare parts.
- Provide technical guidance and training to operators.
- Create/modify equipment PM's as needed.
- Ability to work under limited supervision.
- Other duties as assigned.
skills/qualifications required:
- Highly engaged, professional, positive, and organized.
- Previous experience as a lead, technician, or experienced operator required.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot.
- Demonstrated understanding of automated equipment and components (pumps, valves, drives, sensors, heat exchangers, power transmission components, etc.)
- Advanced mechanical skills, ability to troubleshoot and complete PMs.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics (P&ID, Electrical, and Mechanical).
- Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- High school diploma or college degree (preferred).
working conditions and physical requirements:
- Willing to adjust schedule to support production, planned downtime events, or unplanned issues/downtime
- Regular use of a variety of machines and tools
- Standing for extended periods is common
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling required to perform repairs
- Occasional chemical handling (PAA, H202, All required PPE supplied)
- Exposure to machinery and noisy environments (All required PPE supplied)
food safety requirements:
- Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
- Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
- Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
- Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
- Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
- Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
- In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
