job purpose:
The purpose of the Sanitation Technician is to monitor plant wide sanitation areas of responsibilities and provide direction to operators performing sanitation responsibilities.
responsibilities:
- Adhere to and administer company policies and procedures. Establishes and implements SSOP’s for processes. Conduct audits to assure the consistent application and execution of SSOP’s and all related sanitation practices.
- With direction of the sanitation supervisor, assists in any relevant initiatives by collecting and testing samples, monitoring washes, and data collection.
- Review and resolve audit findings. Implement sustainable action items throughout processing for necessary improvements.
- Key member of cross-functional teams to conduct self-inspections of facility, assessing risk based on food safety, public health principles, and customer requirements.
- Looks for ways to improve sanitation practices by leading initiatives to reduce chemical usage, streamline processes and improve efficacy of washes.
- Works closely with Quality, Engineering, Operations and Maintenance to drive actions to ensure appropriate sanitation programs are utilized.
- Understands automated CIP systems and works with plant support team to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues.
- Assists with sanitation verification and validation tasks and requirements.
- Maintains and updates master cleaning schedule, titration log and all associated sanitation paperwork.
- Monitoring CIP trends and develop appropriate corrective actions as necessary.
- Stays up to date with SDS protocols and current industry standards.
- Engages the chemical/equipment suppliers to troubleshoot any sanitation challenges. Identify technologies and methodologies that improve sanitation effectiveness.
- Assist with the development and implementation of sanitation related training for plant employees.
skills/qualifications required:
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Knowledge of sanitary CIP system design, operation and trouble shooting.
- Knowledge of chemical dosing systems.
- Skill in examining and re-adjusting to changes in operations and procedures.
- Understanding and ability to apply basic microbiological principles.
- Basic understanding of dairy and 3A design standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

- 40-50 hours sitting/standing/walking
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Pushing/pulling/bending.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations.
food safety requirements:
- Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
- Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the production areas.
- Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
- Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
- Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
- Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
- In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
