job purpose: The Safety, Health & Environmental Site Manager will be a key part of the Site Leadership Team within the Coopersville, MI fairlife, LLC production facility. The primary objective of the role is to protect and enhance the safety of our employees and our site environmental sustainability through prevention, fostering a culture of caring where safety, health and environment are ingrained as a core value, achieving world-class performance in support of a highly efficient, low-cost operations via a Zero incident mindset. The position ensures compliance of all EHS aspects of the Coopersville site and sets local EHS strategies for overall success in alignment with corporate policy and common practices.
responsibilities:
- Oversee and administer the fairlife safety, environmental and health systems for the Coopersville facility, provide expert guidance and consultation to management, and own compliance with all Federal, State, and local EHS laws and regulations, including Coca-Cola KORE requirements and all applicable reporting submissions
- Design and implement the fairlife safety, environmental and health training programs, services, strategies, and initiatives that are responsive to the needs of the company’s facilities and guarantee close integration with overall company policy; monitor program efficiency, develop reporting procedures and other methods to measure success. Revise processes and procedures as necessary to improve program effectiveness and support a zero-incident objective
- Develop and maintain written departmental procedures to guide management in the application of established safety, health & environmental processes and documentation with short- and long-range goals/ objectives. Effect changes as required for improvement
- Perform training needs analyses and initiate, develop, and/or coordinate the implementation of specific training and development programs for management, staff, and operators. Conduct new employee orientation and associated activities for safety, health and environmental systems. Examples include First Aid/CPR/AED, Spill Containment & Reporting, etc.
- Track and perform required OSHA training annually; experience in participating in VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) is desired
- Maintain frequent presence on manufacturing plant floor to conduct regular safety, health and environmental audits and coaching throughout the plant, to include evaluation of job requirements and ergonomics
- Design and implement waste reduction, recycling programs and spill containment with a monthly (minimum) reporting of plant performance
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise the execution of capital and expense projects related to environmental health & safety programs
- Manage and develop the site EHS team through active support, coaching and feedback with the goal of developing talent that can move on to more challenging positions. Develop and maintain effective EHS communication processes to promote EHS awareness regarding performance trends and key concepts/initiatives
- Ensure investigation of all EHS related incidents fully drives to root cause and identifies actions to prevent recurrence. Ensure all actions to prevent recurrence are effectively implemented. Ensure effective injury case management process is fully implemented, well understood and functioning as desired
skills/qualifications required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety, Health & Environmental, related field or at least 5 + years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified for an Environmental Health and Safety professional in an industrial/manufacturing setting
- Professional certifications in EHS related fields are considered beneficial and may include CSP,CIH, NEBOSH, CEM, etc.
- Skilled in organizing resources, establishing priorities, and meeting critical deadlines with the ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information while making administrative and procedural decisions and judgments with this information
- Analyze and assess training and development needs, with the ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver presentations with a strong return on investment mindset for all EHS initiatives
- Skilled in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of federal and state environmental laws, regulations, procedures, and standards
working conditions and physical requirements:
- 12 hours sitting/standing/walking
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Reaching/bending/ kneeling requirements occasionally (1% - 33% of the time)
- Exposure to hazards (machinery, confined spaces, etc.) frequently (34% - 66% of the time)
- Specific atmospheric conditions: wet and/ or humid, temperature changes, noise, fumes/ odors, dirt/ dust and gases
- Any other physical requirements: climbing stairs, driving occasionally
food safety requirements:
- Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety
- Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas
- Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company
- Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system
- Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system
- Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
- In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required

Base pay range:
$130,000 - $140,000 USD
