job purpose:

The Senior Manager, Learning & Development partners with the Senior Director, Talent Management to shape and lead the organization's enterprise learning strategy. This is a hands-on individual contributor role: the Senior Manager owns the design, build, and delivery of programs that develop leaders and strengthen capability across every level of the business. In addition to strategy and program ownership, the Senior Manager personally facilitates senior leader curriculum and delivers other instructor-led training as business needs arise.

Success in this role depends on influence rather than authority. The Senior Manager works across HR business partners, functional leaders, and executive stakeholders to translate business priorities into learning solutions, and to demonstrate the impact of those solutions with data.

responsibilities:

Learning Strategy & Partnership

  • Partner with the Senior Director, Talent Management to define, refresh, and execute the enterprise L&D strategy, including annual priorities, roadmap, and success measures.
  • Translate business and talent priorities into a coherent portfolio of learning programs, and recommend where to build, buy, or retire offerings.
  • Serve as a consultative partner to HR business partners and functional leaders, conducting needs assessments and recommending solutions grounded in performance outcomes rather than activity.
  • Manage the L&D budget in partnership with the Senior Director, including vendor selection, contracting, and spend against plan.

Senior Leader Curriculum & Facilitation

  • Design and personally facilitate the senior leader curriculum, including executive and director-level development programs, cohort experiences, and offsite sessions.
  • Deliver additional instructor-led and virtual training across the organization as business needs arise, covering topics such as management fundamentals, coaching, feedback, change leadership, and team effectiveness.
  • Create a credible, high-trust learning environment for senior audiences, adjusting content and facilitation approach in real time to the level and needs of the room.
  • Develop and coach internal subject matter experts and leader-facilitators to extend delivery capacity across the enterprise.

Program Design & Delivery

  • Own the full instructional design lifecycle — needs analysis, learning objectives, content development, facilitator guides, participant materials, and evaluation.
  • Build blended solutions that combine instructor-led sessions, digital and self-paced content, coaching, and on-the-job application.
  • Utilize the learning technology and LMS content lifecycle in partnership with Technical Training including curation, assignment logic, and reporting.
  • Oversee external vendors, consultants, and assessment partners, holding them to scope, quality, and timeline commitments.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and report on L&D metrics - participation, learner experience, behavior change, and business impact, and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Use assessment, engagement, and performance data to identify capability gaps and prioritize investment.
  • Benchmark against external practice and continuously refine programs based on evidence and participant feedback.

skills/qualifications required:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Five or more years of progressive learning and development experience, including ownership of enterprise or multi-site programs.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating for senior leader and executive audiences.
  • Strong instructional design skills and fluency with adult learning principles.
  • Track record of influencing and delivering through cross-functional partnership without formal authority.
  • Ability to move between strategy and execution — building the plan and then building the content.
  • Executive presence — credible and composed in front of senior audiences.
  • Strategic thinking paired with a builder's bias for action.
  • Influence and stakeholder management across a matrixed organization.
  • Facilitation and storytelling that hold a room and drive application.
  • Data literacy — comfort defining measures and reporting on impact.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and shifting business priorities.

Preferred:

  • Certification in one or more leadership assessment or development tools (for example, Hogan, DDI, Korn Ferry, MBTI, or 360-degree feedback instruments).
  • Experience with LMS and learning experience platform administration, and with authoring tools such as Articulate or Rise.
  • Coaching credential (ICF or equivalent) or formal executive coaching experience.
  • Experience supporting a distributed workforce across multiple locations.
