The Compliance Waitlist Associate plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and compliance of resident selection processes for affordable housing properties. This position is responsible for managing resident waitlists, conducting eligibility screenings, and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including HUD and LIHTC requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Resident Waitlists:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident waitlists for assigned properties.
    • Process applications for affordable housing units, ensuring compliance with all eligibility criteria.
    • Verify applicant information, including income, assets, and household composition.
    • Maintain accurate and complete resident files.
  • Conduct Eligibility Screenings:
    • Perform thorough eligibility screenings of all prospective residents, including income verification, criminal background checks, and credit checks.
    • Analyze applicant information to determine eligibility for affordable housing programs.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate and complete eligibility documentation.
  • Ensure Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including HUD, LIHTC, and Fair Housing requirements.
    • Stay informed of changes in regulations and best practices.
    • Identify and address any potential compliance issues.
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping:
    • Accurately enter resident information into the property management software.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all waitlist activity.
    • Prepare reports on waitlist activity and resident demographics.
  • Customer Service:
    • Respond to resident inquiries regarding waitlist status and eligibility requirements.
    • Provide excellent customer service to all applicants.
  • Other Duties as Assigned:
    • Assist with other compliance-related tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in affordable housing or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of affordable housing programs, including HUD and LIHTC requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and property management software (e.g., Yardi).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

 

Salary Range

$28 - $36.05 USD
