Job Description

Falcon Steel is looking for a hardworking, detail-oriented Parts Cleaner / Finisher to join our production team. This is a vital role in our quality control process; you are the final set of eyes on a part before it is shipped or sent to the paint line.

Your primary goal is to take raw, fabricated steel parts—fresh from the laser or press brake—and prep them for a professional finish. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys "hands-on" work, finds satisfaction in a job well done, and wants to get their foot in the door of a premier Springfield steel fabrication shop.

Key Responsibilities

• Deburring & Grinding: Use handheld angle grinders, orbital sanders, and vibrating tools to remove "dross," sharp edges, and burrs from laser-cut parts.
• Surface Preparation: Clean parts of oil, grease, and shop dust using chemical washes or pressure washers to ensure proper paint/powder coat adhesion.
• Aesthetic Finishing: Buff out scratches and smooth out weld seams to meet Falcon Steel’s high-quality visual standards.
• Quality Sorting: Inspect parts for defects or missed cuts while cleaning; sort and stack finished pieces onto pallets for shipping.
• Workstation Upkeep: Maintain grinding equipment, change out sanding discs/pads regularly, and keep the finishing area organized and safe.

Qualifications

• Work Ethic: A strong "hustle" mentality and the ability to work independently without constant supervision.
• Attention to Detail: The ability to spot small imperfections in metal surfaces that others might miss.
• Physical Stamina: This is a physically demanding role. You must be able to stand for long periods, handle vibrating power tools, and lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Safety Awareness: Commitment to wearing all required PPE, including safety glasses, ear protection, and gloves.
• Experience: Prior experience in a shop or construction environment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a great attitude.

Schedule and Pay

• Full-Time | 2nd Shift 3pm-11:30pm
• $17-$18/hr
