
Model Validation Associate

As a Model Validation Associate, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of risk models used across FalconX. Your prior experience in risk management and your expertise in applied mathematics will be essential in validating and enhancing the firm's risk modeling capabilities across our products and entities servicing clients around the world.
- Conducts model validation and model risk governance across FalconX.
- Develops model validation methodology to assess models to confirm the conceptual; soundness of model theory, quality of model implementation, and robustness of model ongoing monitoring.
- Conducts thorough review on model annual assessment, model changes, and ongoing monitoring results
- Develops and maintains documentation, work papers and professional reports of validation results.
- Communicates findings from validation work to management and stakeholders, including recommendations as appropriate.
- Engage with business stakeholders across FalconX to conduct model attestation processes to ensure completeness and accuracy of the model inventory.
- Engage with Front Office/Product model owner teams to monitor progress of remediation actions to resolve findings and policy exceptions.
- Lead effort to continuously improve model identification processes by streamlining existing processes and partnering with other areas within the bank to enhance proactive model identification processes.
- Support enhancements to model risk management framework, policy, and procedures.
- Support audits and examinations, as well as lead remediation efforts.
- Develop and enhance model risk metrics reports and present results to senior management.
Requirements:
- BS or equivalent degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or related fields
- 5+ years of experience in risk management, risk analytics, risk consulting, or related domains in financial institutions or consulting firms
- Knowledge and skill set in model valuation and model development; and working with large and complex data sets.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements outlined in CECL, IFRS9, SR11-7, other regulations and rules to conducting model validation and model governance assignments
- Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft PowerBI, Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to distill complex data to identify key themes and insights
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g. Python, R, VBA, SQL) in order to develop scripts and for implementation/replication testing.
- Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative
- Good problem solver; ability to learn quickly; able to work multiple cross-functional efforts.
- Effective interpersonal skills, strong communication, especially written.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities working for a US regulated Swap Dealer or other financial institution preferred
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
