Senior Counsel, Regulatory

New York City, NY

Who are we?

FalconX is a pioneering team of operators, investors, and builders committed to revolutionizing institutional access to the crypto markets. Operating at the intersection of traditional finance and
cutting-edge technology, FalconX addresses the industry's foremost challenges: Navigating the digital asset market can be complex and fragmented, with limited products and services that support trading strategies, structures, and liquidity found in conventional financial markets. As a comprehensive solution for all digital asset strategies from start to scale, FalconX operates as the connective tissue empowering clients with seamless navigation through the ever-
evolving cryptocurrency landscape.

As Senior Counsel, Regulatory, you will play a lead role in FalconX’s global regulatory footprint. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, you will own the execution of our 2026 licensing roadmap. You will also keep FalconX in good standing with digital asset regulators in every market where we operate. You are a crypto regulatory specialist who is comfortable working where the law is new and still changing, and you can bring clarity to areas where the rules are unsettled.

What You Will Do

  • Execute the Licensing Roadmap: Lead and manage new digital asset license applications, registrations and authorizations in all 2026 target jurisdictions. These include VASP registrations, state money transmitter licenses, the NYDFS BitLicense, MiCA CASP authorization and their international equivalents.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Serve as a primary point of contact for crypto regulators. Manage inquiries, examinations, license renewals and ongoing reporting requirements so FalconX stays in good standing with oversight bodies worldwide.
  • Regulatory Analysis & Advice: Advise on how digital assets are classified (security, commodity or other) and what that means for regulation. Also advise on custody, trading, lending and staking rules, Travel Rule compliance and AML/sanctions requirements.
  • Landscape Monitoring: Track global crypto legislation and regulatory changes, including MiCA, SEC and CFTC developments, U.S. market structure and stablecoin legislation, and FATF guidance. Turn these changes into clear compliance obligations and recommendations for the business.
  • Policy Engagement: Help shape FalconX's positions on proposed crypto rules, consultations and industry working groups.

Who You Are

  • A seasoned regulatory attorney with 4+ years of experience in fintech, crypto, or institutional finance.
  • Proven experience navigating complex, multi-jurisdictional licensing processes.
  • An expert at distilling opaque regulatory guidance into clear, actionable business advice.

The base pay for this role is expected to be between $230,000 - $291,000 in New York City. This expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role will also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance linked bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for a successful candidate will be determined based on a number of factors such as location, skillset, experience, qualifications and the level at which the candidate is hired.
