Senior Manager, Tax Operations

New York City, NY

Who are we?

FalconX is a pioneering team of operators, investors, and builders committed to revolutionizing institutional access to the crypto markets. Operating at the intersection of traditional finance and
cutting-edge technology, FalconX addresses the industry's foremost challenges: Navigating the digital asset market can be complex and fragmented, with limited products and services that support trading strategies, structures, and liquidity found in conventional financial markets. As a comprehensive solution for all digital asset strategies from start to scale, FalconX operates as the connective tissue empowering clients with seamless navigation through the ever-
evolving cryptocurrency landscape.

About the Role

FalconX is looking for a technically rigorous and operationally minded Senior Manager, Tax Operations to join our Finance team. In this role, you will serve as the leader of the tax operations function, taking full ownership of Global Tax Provision (ASC 740) and Tax Compliance.

While this role requires a passion for the crypto and Web3 ecosystem, our priority is finding a candidate with deep technical expertise in tax accounting and who is enthusiastic about the intersection of technology and finance. You will act as a key leader within Finance ensuring that our financial reporting is accurate, our compliance is seamless across all jurisdictions (Federal, State, International), and our tax operations are scalable. You are not just a reviewer; you are a builder who takes a hands-on approach to complex data and documentation

Key Responsibilities

Global Tax Provision & Tax Accounting (ASC 740)

  • Own the Provision: Manage the preparation and review of the global quarterly and annual income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740 (formerly FAS 109).
  • Technical Reporting: Prepare tax footnote disclosures and detailed internal tax technical memoranda to support tax positions and financial statement reporting.
  • Analysis: Calculate effective tax rates (ETR), manage deferred tax asset/liability (DTA/DTL) schedules, and analyze uncertain tax positions (FIN 48).

Tax Compliance & Operations

  • Global Filing Oversight: Manage the end-to-end compliance process for US (Federal/State) and International income tax returns, managing external vendors and advisors to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Process Architecture: Design and implement "Tax Ops" best practices; improve data collection workflows between Accounting and Tax to streamline the compliance lifecycle.
  • Indirect Tax: Oversee the calendar and compliance for direct and indirect taxes (VAT/GST/Sales Tax) across global entities.
  • Cash Management: Manage the calculation and timely remittance of estimated tax payments and extensions globally.

(C) Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Data Integrity: Partner closely with FP&A and the  Accounting team to ensure financial data is structured correctly for tax consumption.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Assist senior leadership with the tax operational impacts of M&A, entity restructuring, or new product launches.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years of relevant tax experience. A background in a Big 4 accounting firm is highly preferred, ideally combined with in-house experience at a multinational corporation.
  • Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA and/or MST is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Mastery: Deep subject matter expertise in ASC 740 (Tax Provision) and US GAAP is non-negotiable. You must be comfortable navigating complex tax accounting issues without supervision.
  • Operational Mindset: Demonstrated success in "Tax Operations" - you know how to build calendars, manage workflows, and utilize technology to reduce manual errors.
  • Communication: Excellent written communication skills, specifically the ability to translate complex tax accounting concepts into clear updates for non-tax stakeholders.
  • Crypto Interest: While prior professional experience in crypto is not required, a genuine personal passion for Web3, blockchain, and the digital asset space is essential.

You are a great fit if:

  • You love the "nuts and bolts" of tax accounting and take pride in a perfectly tied-out workpaper.
  • You function best as a "counterpart" to leadership - you handle the technical execution so the team can move fast.
  • You are hands-on: You don't just delegate to vendors; you dig into the details to ensure the work is right.
  • You thrive in high-growth environments where you must build processes from scratch rather than just inherit them.

The base pay for this role is expected to be between $191,000 - $242,000 USD for a Senior Manager level in the New York City and San Francisco Bay Area. This expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role will also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance linked bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for a successful candidate will be determined based on a number of factors such as location, skillset, experience, qualifications and the level at which the candidate is hired.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
