Position Overview

We are seeking a creative and resourceful Senior Designer to drive the development of women's sportswear collections tailored for the off-price market. This role combines creative design expertise, a deep understanding of cost-conscious production, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver trend-right, commercially viable products. While experience with licensed brands is highly preferred, this position does not involve direct interaction with licensors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Design: Conceptualize and design women's sportswear collections with a focus on off-price market requirements, balancing creativity with cost efficiency.
  • Market Awareness: Stay updated on trends, competitor activity, and customer preferences to create compelling, commercially relevant designs.
  • Cost Engineering: Utilize reverse engineering techniques and innovative approaches to develop styles that meet pricing and margin objectives.
  • Seasonal Collections: Execute seasonal design plans, ensuring product assortments align with brand strategy and business goals.
  • Fabric & Trim Selection: Research and recommend cost-effective fabrications and trims that elevate the overall look while staying within budget.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with technical design, merchandising, and production teams to ensure seamless execution from concept to final product.
  • Fit & Quality: Attend fit sessions and provide input to maintain the aesthetic, fit, and functionality of products.
  • Licensed Brands Support: Work within established licensor guidelines to design collections, ensuring adherence to brand standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years of apparel design experience, with a strong focus on women's sportswear and the off-price market.
  • Licensing Experience Preferred: Familiarity with working on licensed brands, with the ability to adhere to guidelines and standards.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM systems (Centric experience preferred).
  • Market Knowledge: Understanding of off-price retailers such as Marmaxx and Burlington, and their unique design and pricing needs.
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Ability to create innovative designs while achieving cost and margin targets.
  • Strong Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous about fit, construction, and product details.

COMPENSATION

At FAM Brands, we are committed to fair and transparent compensation. Salary ranges for positions are based on job level, location, and market data. We offer competitive benefits and are dedicated to equal pay for equal work. Specific salary offers depend on each candidate’s qualifications and experience. FAM Brands also offers all employees participation in our annual bonus program (Non-Sales) or commission program (Sales).

Compensation Range

$92,500 - $105,000 USD
