Role Summary
The Thin Film Operator Trainer is responsible for operating thin film equipment while supporting the training and development of Thin Film Operators. This role serves as a hands-on resource for employees learning machine operation, material handling, quality standards, and required operating procedures.
The Thin Film Operator Trainer will demonstrate proper machine setup and operation, coach operators on identifying defects and abnormalities, reinforce established procedures, and help ensure employees can consistently perform their responsibilities safely and according to quality standards.
This position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to demonstrate processes clearly while working collaboratively with operators and production leadership.
What You’ll Do
Training & Operator Development
- Train Thin Film Operators on established machine operational procedures and department expectations.
- Demonstrate proper machine setup, loading, operation, and thin film lamination processes.
- Provide hands-on instruction and coaching to operators as they learn required processes and procedures.
- Reinforce proper methods for identifying defects, abnormalities, and other quality concerns.
- Help operators understand the different types of materials used within the thin film process.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to support operator development.
- Partner with the Electra Etch Supervisor and production leadership to communicate training needs and operator progress.
Machine Operation & Production
- Configure and set up equipment to prepare production loads and laminate thin film to the required surface.
- Keep equipment properly loaded and running for extended periods.
- Monitor the lamination process to minimize overhang and maintain established production requirements.
- Inspect laminated material for ink spots, wrinkles, bubbles, lines, patterns, and other imperfections.
- Identify problems or abnormalities and report them to the appropriate lead or supervisor.
- Ensure material coming from the machine is clean and meets established quality standards.
- Differentiate between the various materials used in the production process.
Quality & Documentation
- Model and reinforce established quality expectations with operators.
- Complete required paperwork and reports accurately.
- Help ensure operators understand inspection expectations and how to identify small spots, patterns, and other defects on laminated sheets.
- Escalate quality or operational concerns to the appropriate production leader.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively as part of the production team.
- Communicate instructions and operating procedures clearly and professionally.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude and model expected workplace practices for operators.
- Follow up on training and operational needs as appropriate.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
- Knowledge of Thin Film machine operational procedures.
- Experience operating Thin Film equipment or performing comparable production processes.
- Ability to demonstrate operating procedures and explain them clearly to others.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify small defects, spots, patterns, and abnormalities in laminated material.
- Ability to differentiate between materials used in the Thin Film process.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Sound decision-making and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Professional and dependable approach to work.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to bend and perform the physical movements required to operate production equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Visual acuity sufficient to identify small spots, patterns, and imperfections in laminated material.
