ROLE OVERVIEW

The Senior Planner is a strategic planning leader responsible for owning league or category seasonal plans, driving open-to-buy discipline, and ensuring cross-functional alignment with Merchandising, Finance, and Supply Chain. Recognized as a subject matter expert, this role is accountable for delivering sales, margin, and productivity goals while coaching Planners and Analysts to build expertise across the team, operating with wide latitude for judgment as the key point of contact for category or vendor-level planning deliverables presented to leadership. The Senior Planner delivers business and fan impact through BOLD leadership and execution excellence, leveraging data, automation, and AI-enabled insights.

HOW WILL YOU DRIVE IMPACT

Success is measured by the ability to deliver results through BOLD capabilities and measurable outcomes.

Team & Leadership Impact (Build Championship Teams)

Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Serve as the internal consultant to Merchandising, Finance, and Supply Chain on complex or nuanced planning challenges, ensuring alignment across functions at every seasonal milestone.
  • Lead critical seasonal milestones — including tops/down plans, bottoms-up reconciliations, line freezes, SIM inputs, and PO deadlines — coordinating deliverables across the business with precision and accountability.
  • Represent category and vendor-level planning to DMMs, GMs, and senior leadership, communicating recommendations and results with clarity and confidence.

People Leadership:

  • Mentor and coach Planners and Analysts, providing structured feedback and developing planning expertise across the team.
  • Model SME-level standards in planning metrics, seasonal calendar execution, and vendor partnership management, raising the overall capability bar of the planning organization.

Fan & Customer Impact (Obsessed with Fans)

  • Translate high-level seasonal targets into actionable assortment, sales, and inventory plans that ensure the right product is available to fans at the right time.
  • Drive in-season open-to-buy management by reconciling targets against actuals and making timely recommendations on pricing, buys, and inventory reallocation to sustain fan-facing product availability.
  • Own vendor plans across assigned partners, aligning productivity and seasonal milestone commitments to support a consistent and compelling fan experience.
  • Ensure planning decisions are grounded in performance data, enabling the business to respond quickly to shifts in fan demand across leagues and categories.

Innovation & Problem Solving (Limitless Entrepreneurial Spirit)

  • Identify and resolve complex or subtle planning challenges across category and vendor portfolios, bringing creative, data-driven solutions to cross-functional teams.
  • Leverage enterprise planning systems — including Oracle and advanced Excel — to build scalable planning models and improve the quality of business insights.
  • Continuously evaluate in-season performance trends and proactively recommend strategic adjustments to buys, assortments, and inventory positioning.
  • Champion process improvements and planning best practices that increase team efficiency and decision-making speed across the seasonal calendar.

Ownership & Execution (Determined & Relentless Mindset)

  • Own end-to-end seasonal planning for assigned leagues and categories, from initial target-setting through final reconciliation, with full accountability for sales, margin, and inventory productivity outcomes.
  • Manage vendor-level plans with rigor, ensuring all partners meet seasonal milestone and productivity commitments on schedule.
  • Operate with wide latitude for judgment, making sound, timely decisions on complex planning matters without requiring escalation.
  • Support limited travel as needed for vendor or business reviews, maintaining strong external relationships that underpin planning accuracy and execution.

AI & DIGITAL CAPABILITY

We are building a future-ready organization. This role is expected to:

  • Apply AI and technology to improve efficiency, quality, and outcomes
  • Use data and digital tools to inform decisions and enhance performance
  • Demonstrate curiosity and adaptability in adopting new technologies and ways of working

  • Proven ability to lead large, complex planning projects across Merchandising, Finance, and Supply Chain functions.
  • Recognized subject matter expertise in planning metrics, seasonal calendar execution, and vendor partnership management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Oracle or comparable enterprise planning systems, with the ability to build and interpret complex planning models.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with demonstrated experience presenting planning recommendations and results to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach junior team members, building planning capability across a team.
