Founded by an MMO legend who has led AAA teams for over 20 years, our new studio Fantastic Pixel Castle (FPC) is building an original fantasy IP from scratch. Position Overview: 

Are you an experienced audio guru with a passion for collaboration, leadership, and forging world class player experiences? FPC is seeking an experienced Audio Director to define and drive the overall audio vision for our new IP. You will lead our efforts in forging immersive and emotionally unforgettable audio experiences in Unreal 5, ensuring our game’s music, sound effects, and voiceover enhances our gameplay and storytelling. As a new studio, we need a leader who is excited about contributing as a hands-on developer, building and managing a small world-class Audio team, and leveraging extensive outsourcing resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the game’s audio direction, in collaboration with the creative vision and game direction.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Art, Narrative, and Technical teams to integrate audio seamlessly into a vibrant, new fantasy IP.
  • Design and implement high-quality soundscapes, music, and effects for a dynamic MMO world.
  • Establish pipelines, tools, and workflows to support scalable and efficient audio production.
  • Ensure the optimization of audio assets for performance across PC and console platforms.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a small but elite internal audio team from scratch.
  • Select and manage numerous external audio partners, including composers, voice actors, and audio designers.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in game audio, with at least one shipped AAA title as an Audio Director or Lead Audio Designer.
  • Expertise in sound design, music direction, and audio implementation in games.
  • Experience with middleware such as Wwise, FMOD, or proprietary audio engines.
  • Strong knowledge of audio pipeline development and technical constraints.
  • Proven creative and empathetic leader with experience growing a department from the early phases of development through ship.
  • Track record building strong and transparent collaboration channels with multi-disciplinary developers, both internally and outsourced.
  • Experience building and refining audio pipelines and workflows from early development through ship.
  • Passion for fantasy worlds and storytelling through audio.

Bonus Skills:

  • Skillset with the Unreal 5 engine 
  • Experience working in MMOs or large-scale open-world games.
  • Knowledge of networked audio systems for multiplayer environments.
  • Experience directing VO in complex multi-actor scenes.
  • Music composition, direction, or processing skills.

 

US Salary Band: $140,000 - 210,000 USD

Canada Salary Band: $90,000 - 180,000 CAD
