Java Application Platform Engineer

FMH is seeking a Java Application Platform Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining, modernizing, and securing the organization's Java application platform while providing direct technical support to application development teams.

This role focuses on the underlying frameworks, libraries, tools, and shared components used by Java applications, including Spring, Hibernate, application security frameworks, and related dependencies. The engineer will assist with framework and Java/JDK upgrades, address vulnerabilities and technical debt, and help ensure applications remain current, secure, stable, and supportable.

A key responsibility of this position is providing hands-on support to Java developers, helping teams troubleshoot application and framework issues, resolve complex build and runtime problems, implement upgrades, address security findings, and adopt platform standards and best practices.

The Java Application Platform Engineer will work closely with development, architecture, security, and infrastructure teams to perform the below responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works alongside a team of developers to develop and validate software on projects in accordance with Company specifications and requirements.
  • Evaluates, clarifies, and understands requirements and functional specifications.
  • Troubleshoots coding issues quickly and efficiently to ensure a productive workplace.
  • Creates, updates, and maintains appropriate application and code development documentation.
  • Participates and contributes in Agile ceremonies.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as requested or assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience: Three or more years of experience developing enterprise-level applications using object-oriented programming including Java technologies, Spring / Spring Boot, and JPA / Hibernate.
  • Education: Associate's degree required. (Bachelor's degree preferred.)
  • Skills: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel. Experience in an Agile environment highly preferred.
