Summary: As members of Farm Sanctuary’s Education Team, Sanctuary Guides serve as knowledgeable and welcoming ambassadors for Farm Sanctuary. They will conduct farm tours and other educational programming and collaborate with onsite and offsite teams and experts to create meaningful educational experiences.

 

The Sanctuary Guide position offers a unique opportunity to live and work with a team of committed staff and volunteers focused on educating and advocating for farm animals. This position is an excellent opportunity to gain skills and experience in animal advocacy work and knowledge of issues around animal agriculture. Successful candidates will bring a welcoming and warm demeanor and have a sincere connection to vegan and animal advocacy.

 

This position includes conducting tours and other educational experiences, welcoming and engaging with guests and volunteers, and supporting retail and hospitality operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create an inclusive, safe, and inviting guest experience for visitors and community members
  • Greet guests, proactively engage visitors,  provide information and wayfinding
  • Conduct public and private tours and other educational experiences
  • Collaborate with onsite teams to maintain animal residents’ and guests’ safety and comfort
  • Support retail, hospitality, and volunteer operations
  • Support programming and upkeep of the Sanctuary Center
  • Assist with onsite Sanctuary events and outreach projects
  • On-call response to B&B guest's after-hour emergencies
  • Provide administrative assistance as needed
  • Respond to public inquiries via Zendesk and telephone
  • Supply reports and other info to the Manager as requested.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Professional and gracious in high-volume situations
  • Extensive knowledge of farmed animal and vegan issues
  • Effective communication, public speaking, and outreach skills with various audiences
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Efficient organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Team player and collaboration skills when working with colleagues
  • Willingness and ability to perform physical labor and moderate lifting
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred
  • Alignment with Farm Sanctuary’s values of compassion, understanding, integrity, transformation, and freedom. 
  • Familiarity, commitment to, and experience with the practice of equity and social justice, and the principles embedded in Farm Sanctuary’s mission

Job Specifications:

Pay: $20/hour

  • Benefits: Eligibility to participate in Farm Sanctuary’s 403(b) and medical insurance plan
  • Additional Specifications
    • This position is from March - November 2025.
    • Onsite housing is provided for the duration of seasonal employment (spaces are shared).
