Education Senior Program Manager

Job Description:

Summary: The Education Senior Program Manager helps create and deliver humane education programs, community-driven education programs, and national remote volunteer opportunities designed to change hearts, minds, and systems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages  humane education program administration, including scheduling, tracking and reporting, teacher outreach, and program marketing, as per departmental protocol.
  • Develops new humane education curriculum and student resources, as necessary and in alignment with strategic priorities, under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Conducts select in-classroom and online humane education presentations and webinars.
  • In partnership with relevant leaders, manages humane education program assessment, including impact measurement.
  • Responsible for  maintenance and updating of humane educator program tools, materials, and resources.
  • Supports development and management of new/additional education programs, as defined and prioritized by organizational strategy. 
  • Collaborates with senior leaders, and consultants, when appropriate, to support scaling the humane education program to reach new and diverse audiences.
  • Collaborates with Farm Sanctuary's Brand and Content Department to develop compelling content about our Humane Education programs.
  • Contributes to the development of consistent messaging and framing of food system issues through a social justice lens and Farm Sanctuary mission throughout education content.
  • Supervises Humane Educator(s) and interns, as appropriate.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of professional experience in education program delivery, curriculum planning and humane education.  
  • Master’s in humane education or an equivalent field. 
  • Highly organized, analytical capacity; ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Effective professional interpersonal and relationship skills to include building alliances with schools and community organizations.
  • Robust knowledge of animal agriculture, the lives of farm animals, veganism, and interrelated social justice issues of our food system; highly motivated toward promoting plant-based diet choices.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
  • Alignment with Farm Sanctuary’s values of compassion, understanding, integrity, transformation, and freedom. 
  • Familiarity, commitment to, and experience with the practice of equity and social justice, and the principles embedded in Farm Sanctuary’s mission

 

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary to light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally with prolonged periods of sitting in a stationary position. Must be able to perform repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Must be able to communicate with others to exchange information by means of the spoken word via telephone, video conferencing and other forms of electronic communication utilizing computers and smartphones. 
  • Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal. Must be able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. 
  • Position is subject to environmental conditions. Must be able to perform activities inside and outside when onsite with remaining work performed in a remote home office.

Specification:

  • Terms of employment: Regular Full Time, Non exempt
  • Reports to: Senior Director, Education & Advocacy

Direct reports: NA (subject to change)

  • Location: Remote

Pay: $70,000-80,000

  • Travel: Potential for travel to support Education events
