ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of public accounting rigor and private industry agility. We are looking for a professional who doesn't just manage processes but takes full ownership of the financial ecosystem, leveraging modern technology to drive efficiency, accuracy, and strategic insight.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial statements are accurate and issued in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reserves, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Perform detailed general ledger account analysis and resolve discrepancies proactively.
  • Apply technical knowledge to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Manage the preparation of workpapers for annual audits and serve as point of contact for external auditors.
  • Scalability & Process Documentation - Driving the development and ongoing maintenance of scalable, well-documented SOPs 

2. Operational Ownership

  • Take end-to-end responsibility for the General Ledger functions.
  • Understand the business processes and impact on financials and drive change through influence. 
  • Proactively identify discrepancies or process bottlenecks and implement sustainable solutions without being prompted.
  • Act as a "business owner" within the finance department, treating company resources and financial health with a high degree of personal accountability.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align financial results with business drivers

3. Technology & Process Optimization

  • Lead the implementation and optimization of accounting software (ERP, expense management, and automated reconciliation tools).
  • Understand and own system processes that impact financial records.
  • Identify and own opportunities for process improvement. 
  • Champion the transition from manual processes to automated workflows to scale the department’s capabilities.
  • Utilize advanced data analytics and visualization tools to provide leadership with actionable financial insights.

4. Leadership & Mentorship

  • Manage and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Lead the department to create a collaborative environment with the business 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Public & Private Mix: A minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2–3 years in a "Big 4" or mid-tier public accounting firm followed by experience in a corporate environment.
  • Management:  minimum 1–2 years supervising staff or leading projects
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • ERP Mastery: Proven experience working with advanced ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite,).
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in automation tools (e.g., Alteryx, AI) and advanced Excel (VBA, Power Query).
  • Reporting: Experience with reporting software and BI tools (e.g., Snowflake, Looker, Power BI).

SOFT SKILLS

  • Sense of Ownership: A "no task is too small" attitude combined with the ability to lead high-level initiatives.
  • Analytical Thinking: The ability to look beyond the numbers to understand the "why" behind financial trends.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex financial data into clear narratives for non-finance stakeholders.
