Senior UX Researcher

Remote

Federato is on a mission to defend the right to efficient, equitable insurance for all. We enable insurers to provide affordable coverage to people and organizations facing the issues of today - the climate crisis, cyber-attacks, social inflation, etc. Our vision is understood and well funded by those behind Salesforce, Veeva, Zoom, Box, etc.

Federato is the only AI-native platform that spans the full policy lifecycle and changes the way insurance work gets done. Better decisioning is built-in, not bolted on: insurers' unique portfolio goals, strategies, rules, and appetite are part of the workflow so underwriters win the right deals, faster. From the moment a submission hits an underwriter’s inbox, AI is put to work, triaging submissions with a focus on high-appetite business, delivering real-time feedback on the portfolio, and consolidating workflows into a single proven system. Federato drives better business outcomes.

The Product Design and Research Team
Imagine stepping into an industry as old as insurance and redefining how it works from the ground up. That’s what we do at Federato—design software that feels like a secret weapon for underwriters.  Our team of designers and researchers tackle intricate, high-stakes problems with a blend of speed and craft. Armed with AI, we’re not just modernizing insurance; we’re making a lasting mark on an industry that directly shapes people’s lives.

Role Overview

As a UX Researcher at Federato, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the experience of a category-defining platform, reporting to the Research Manager. You’ll partner closely with product, design, and engineering teams to uncover user insights that drive confident, user-centered decisions across the product lifecycle. This role is ideal for a curious and adaptable researcher who enjoys working cross-functionally, and is comfortable figuring out what needs to be done even when the path forward isn’t fully defined. You’ll work independently on key initiatives while also contributing to a growing research practice.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Design and execute mixed-methods research (interviews, fieldwork, usability testing, surveys, etc.) across all stages of the product development cycle.
  • Lead research efforts ranging from broad discovery for new product areas to focused, evaluative work to ensure research is a core part of product development.
  • Participate in design sprints, partnering closely with Product Managers and Designers to support quick, iterative learning cycles.
  • Synthesize and triangulate insights from multiple sources (e.g. user research, product data, stakeholder input) to generate structured recommendations that inform product requirements, prioritization, and strategic direction.
  • Champion research across teams, helping embed a user-centered mindset into how we build and iterate.

Who we hope you are

  • You've spent 4+ years conducting UX research in product or tech companies — preferably in B2B SaaS environments where understanding complex user workflows matters
  • You've led research across the full product lifecycle — from early discovery work that uncovers unmet needs to evaluative studies that validate whether you've built the right thing
  • You're methodologically versatile — equally comfortable conducting in-depth interviews, running usability studies, designing surveys, facilitating card sorts and tree tests, and digging into analytics to triangulate insights
  • You thrive in fast-paced, agile environments — you know how to adapt when priorities shift quickly and can right-size your research approach to match the constraints and questions at hand
  • You understand research operations — you've managed participant recruitment, handled incentive logistics, and administered research tools as part of running end-to-end studies

Bonus points if:

  • You have experience in regulated industries (e.g., insurance, healthcare, fintech, legal tech)
  • You have experience in complex B2B domains where user needs are nuanced
  • You've contributed to building or scaling a research practice

Base Salary Range: $125K - $155K
Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above. Total compensation package does include stock options, bonus, benefits and additional perks.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
