Business Development Representative

Remote

Federato is on a mission to defend the right to efficient, equitable insurance for all. We enable insurers to provide affordable coverage to people and organizations facing the issues of today - the climate crisis, cyber-attacks, social inflation, etc. Our vision is understood and well funded by those behind Salesforce, Veeva, Zoom, Box, etc.

Federato is the only AI-native platform that spans the full policy lifecycle and changes the way insurance work gets done. Better decisioning is built-in, not bolted on: insurers' unique portfolio goals, strategies, rules, and appetite are part of the workflow so underwriters win the right deals, faster. From the moment a submission hits an underwriter’s inbox, AI is put to work, triaging submissions with a focus on high-appetite business, delivering real-time feedback on the portfolio, and consolidating workflows into a single proven system. Federato drives better business outcomes.

You will act as their strategic partner, hunting into a defined list of Named Accounts (aligning to AEs) that spans the entire insurance ecosystem—from large Insurance Carriers to specialized MGAs and Program Administrators. We are looking for a self-starter who doesn't wait for permission to execute. You will be responsible for generating the pipeline that fuels our growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Hunt with Tenacity: You will own the top of the funnel for your AE’s Named Accounts. You are expected to be relentless in your pursuit, using phone, email, and social channels to break into these specific, high-value organizations.
    • Prioritize signal-driven, high-intent outreach over volume, using ABM insights, intent data, and account context to guide execution
  • Navigate Complex Ecosystems: You won't just be calling one type of prospect. You will learn to navigate the complexities of massive Carriers as well as the fast-moving world of MGAs. You will adapt your hustle to fit the target.
    • Maintain a consistent operating cadence with your aligned AE, including weekly account reviews, deal feedback, and territory planning
  • Partner on Strategy: You will strategize with your AE and ABM partners to map out these accounts, identify the power players, and coordinate "ground cover" to ensure we are penetrating the right buying centers.
  • Learn the Business: We don't just want you to sell; we want you to understand what you are selling. You will be expected to dive deep into the world of insurance underwriting, learning the difference between a full policy AI native platform and legacy Old Core workflows so you can speak the language of a VP of Underwriting fluently.
    • You will receive structured onboarding, enablement resources, and ongoing coaching to ramp quickly into the insurance and underwriting domain

What We’re Looking For

  • 1-2 years of B2B SaaS Sales experience: You have carried a quota, you know how to use a CRM, and you understand the mechanics of a cold call.

OR

  • Insurance Industry Experience: You have worked as an Underwriter, Broker, or Claims Adjuster and are looking to pivot into tech. You understand the pain of legacy systems because you’ve lived it.
  • Prospecting Proficiency: You are comfortable using tools like Salesforce, Gong, LeadIQ and LinkedIn Sales Navigator. You know how to build a list, finding mobile numbers, and map an organization.
  • Writing Chops: You can write a cold email that doesn't sound like a robot. You understand brevity, personalization, and the importance of a clear Call to Action
  • Phone Presence: You don’t hide behind email. You are comfortable calling a VP of Underwriting, navigating a gatekeeper, and handling objections like "We're happy with what we have" without flinching.
  • Self-Starter: We are a remote-first, high-growth company. We don't micromanage. We need someone who can wake up, set their own agenda, and execute without needing their hand held.
  • Tenacity & Grit: You are relentless. You are hungry to succeed. You understand that sales is a game of persistence. You don't let a bad call ruin your day; you pick up the phone and dial again. You thrive on the hustle.
  • Intellectual Curiosity: You genuinely want to learn the business. You are the type of person who reads industry news, checks the MGAA member list, listens to insurance podcasts, and asks "why" until you understand the root of a customer's problem.
  • Coachability: You have an ego when it comes to winning, but no ego when it comes to learning. You actively seek feedback from your AEs to sharpen your skills.
  • Career Growth & Advancement: This role is designed for individuals who want to grow their careers in go-to-market roles such as: Account Executive or adjacent GTM functions as Federato scales.

What Success Looks Like in the First 6 Months

  • Build deep coverage across named accounts, consistently engaging multiple buyer personas
  • Consistently generate qualified meetings that convert into real pipeline
  • Demonstrate strong AE partnership through joint account planning, feedback loops and support.
  • Become fluent in Federato’s core value proposition and underwriting use cases to confidently engage senior insurance leaders.

Here at Federato, your capabilities are important, but culture fit is quintessential. We move fast, are eager to listen to our users, take a first principles approach to solving problems, and value learning and the ability to change our minds. Most importantly, we're here to have fun. Our ability to make a difference starts with our people. We would love to work with you!

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
