Overview of Role

As Fello’s first in-house engineering leader, you’ll shape the future of our platform by not only architecting and building the technology that powers our marketplace but also assembling and leading a world-class engineering team to bring our software development fully in-house.

This is a rare opportunity to build from the ground up—setting the technical vision, scaling infrastructure, and driving innovation across app development, backend systems, AI, and data security. Reporting to the CEO, you'll work alongside a powerhouse leadership team with deep expertise in scaling billion-dollar businesses across healthcare, marketplaces, and consumer tech. Responsibilities

• Oversee the end-to-end development and deployment of our consumer-facing marketplace platform, spanning mobile apps, web applications, back-end systems, and data science components, in partnership with in-house and third-party engineering teams.
• Drive the platform's architectural design and technical roadmap, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security to support rapid user growth and engagement.
• Collaborate with product management and design teams to translate business requirements and user needs into technical specifications and feature roadmaps.
• Implement best practices and standards for software development, quality assurance, and DevOps processes, ensuring efficient delivery and high-quality releases.
• Oversee the development and optimization of algorithms and machine learning models to enhance user experience, personalization, and marketplace dynamics.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with third-party technology providers, APIs, and data sources to augment platform capabilities and drive innovation.
• Oversee and optimize the company’s internal IT infrastructure, systems and security, including owning relationship with outsourced IT support partner 
• Monitor and analyze key product and user metrics to identify opportunities for product optimization and enhancement, iterating rapidly to deliver value to users.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive landscape, evaluating their potential impact on our platform and advising on strategic opportunities.
• Lead by example, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching to team members, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Key Deliverables:

• Develop technical specifications for product requirements
• Lead daily engineering stand-ups across mobile and web
• Develop the strategy and plan for AI-driven user experience components and implement
• Lead the transition from third-party to in-house engineering resources
• Identify, document, and execute on opportunity areas to improve our tech stack while also mitigating any risks
• Manage system infrastructure, budget, and overall architecture
• Ensure all production systems and data are secure and up-to-date

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles, with a proven track record of success in developing and delivering complex software products/platforms and leading high-impact teams.
• Technical expertise in enterprise-grade mobile (React Native) and web applications, AWS, DevOps, and AI and matching engines/models.
• Extensive knowledge of Python, React / React Native, Typescript and Next.JS, PostgreSQL, containers, react, git, design patterns.  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Strategic thinker with a forward-looking mindset, able to anticipate and address challenges proactively.
• Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced startups is a plus. Consumer marketplace or health-tech experience is a double-plus.
